Subforum Request - for YouTube Creators Content

I would like to see a subforum created for our members who create these Youtube productions to post their work.

Separating off their efforts into their own category would allow those seeking Youtube content to find it, while those seeking discussion threads won't be distracted with the clutter.

Anyone else? I feel I'm far-from-alone here.
 
I'm perfectly capable of viewing threads I want to view and not viewing ones I don't, regardless of what sub forum they're in. but if it gives people that warm fuzzy feeling, go for it. the way I view PoA I typically have no idea what sub forum a thread is in. the only time individual sub forums impact me is when I want to actually post something.

Same here, I hit new posts and go to the ones that interest me.
 
I think it’s a great idea!!!!

there’s nights I’d like to read forums and times I’d just like to watch some “plane porn”. Would be a really cool area to find it!
 
If there was a separate sub-forum for each kind of post that annoyed me, there'd be a lot of sub-forums. I use recent posts so I'd see them anyway.

Yeah, but it's annoying AF to click on what looks like a good discussion just to have to watch a video to then have the discussion about what's in the video. If I know it's a video, I won't bother. If I want to watch videos, I will go to YouTube, not got to PoA to get redirected to YT.
 
I've stayed out of a few MC discussions on this topic because I am *very* allergic to YouTube content, but I support the "YT" moniker, and like EdFred, would skip any such threads when I skim the "New Posts" list.

Don’t you guys know by now, if the title is in ALL CAPS or has some kind of low frequency, low probability, extreme situation in the title that’s it’s an aviation YouTuber?! Sheesh, rookies.
 
also, for reference, the 'NA' thing is the dumbest thing evarrr. if you can't figure out a thread titled "why does my dog drag his butt across the floor?" isn't aviation related, maybe the internet isn't for you.

Or just create a single thread for "video of the day", just like the "picture of the day" thread.

Over on the HBA forum we have "the big video topic", and once a year we lock the old thread and start a new one.

This. There may be interesting posts with videos in them, but if your video is the point of the post, I don't want to see it. And there are too many clickbait thread titles: "Interesting Solution to Crosswind Tailwheel Landings" may be interesting or not, depending on whether it's an actual discussion or just an invitation to watch a video.

How would that help though? Two threads with identical titles, both have YT in the title, one’s “interesting“ to you with a video, the other a typical clickbaity video. How do u know the difference by adding YT to the title?
 
fwiw - having a subforum for such things would make it easy to ignore it (just have to have the subforum in your ignore list.... of course, I might be conflating that function here on POA with the capabilities of other forums...)

The difference to me is between:

"I just posted some hot screed on youtube. (implicit beg to like/subscribe/onlyfan plzkthx)"

vs

"I found some other dude's video online -- let's all discuss/jeer/recoil in horror at it (implicit OP has no commercial or "influencer" value in posting)"

sure, understood. but that's not what he said. he basically implied adding 'YT' to the thread title will solve everything*

*and by 'solve everything' I mean make it easier for people who should know better, to know better. can't even believe this is a discussion topic**

Sorry @Rgbeard - Been asked before. I think the last idea was to put them in classifieds, since they are selling something, but that was rejected by the majestic, all knowing, superlative @Pilots Of America Management.

Maybe we should get together with some GoPros and make a YT video about it. Yah, that's the ticket!
 
You know, it would be good if we could make better use of tags. That way if someone is into YT aviation content, they could favorite that tag and have it move to the top of their personal "recents" list. If someone is a YT hater, they could mark that tag for moving to the bottom of their personal "recents" list.

It would help me because I wouldn't click on those threads.

Make sub forum called Ptube. Via algorithm, all videos, regardless of source, Utube or otherwise will be moved to Ptube. A link to to said Ptube posting will be left in originating forum posting.

Exactly my perspective. I don't mind videos at all, they can spark lots of fruitful conversation. It's the threads where some Joe Pilot Youtuber shamelessly plugs his own video/YT channel without adding any meaningful discussion value. Usually with the dramatic clickbaity title and the afforementioned "smash that like button and support my Patreon" vibe *shudders*. It's cheap and cringy and just generally in poor taste.

I'm all in favor of a subforum dedicated to the "content creators" plugging their channels, while the other video threads do their thang.
 
Man, you guys must have some pretty good lives to think this is an issue that needs to be fixed.

I think “naturally aspirated” every time I see it in a thread title. So confusing
