Strange Luscombe

Yeah, that's a cool rig, I saw it on TAP a couple years ago. I wonder how much lighter the turbine is.

They ran it outta Dino juice a few years ago and tore it up pretty bad. Wonder f this is a new video or something from a while back?

The issue with the turbine is fuel flow. It is surprising how fast 20+ GPH can empty a small tank.

I've been learning recently how expensive turbines are to operate.....$6/min just for gas on 675hp.

Video says 2013.

Apparently it can't even carry enough fuel to make it out to the runway. :)

This video was uploaded in order to sell it. I believe the owner was selling it due to not being able to get a medical.

Yeah, it was listed a couple years ago was the first time I saw it. It looks cool, there's also some pictures floating around the internet that show the installation, extremely well done.

If you want to know about it talk to Doug Combs, the guy who built it. He runs Classic Aero in Chandler Arizona. He didn't run it out of gas, a bug crawled up the fuel vent and clogged it causing the engine to quit. The wings are seriously clipped so no, it doesn't glide or land like your standard Luscombe. Combs will be the first to admit that there is no logical justification for this machines existence. If you really want a Luiscombe, buy a real Luscombe.

It was to get everyone to 'ooh and ahh' over it when visiting other airports. :D
