Gee T-dub... you're kinda ruff on that topic... ;)

I used POA from the phone last night and in the middle of the day today. I had also been using the phone during beta testing. I don't usually try to make long posts from the phone, but I didn't using Tapatalk either. Not to mention the fact that my post never rival yours in length!

I may have the advantage of having smaller fingers, but I doubt my old eyes are any better...

I don't think you keep your fingernails long, but I'd joke with Karen if she were doing it, since shes always tapping things on touch screens with her nails when they're long enough. (Nurses don't keep them very long, either... but once in a while she has falsies on I guess... I don't track these girly things very well. LOL...)

This may sound OCD, but do you literally look at EVERY new thread? :)

I did on TT, but it was because there was a tab that showed ALL UNREAD, no matter where in the site, in fact, you could look at all UNREAD across ALL OF YOUR SITES AT ONCE if you wanted, and the navigation buttons never leave either the list screen nor the thread screen, so you can always go back to the list from the thread without having to find a way back.

Click on thread, scroll to read/skim, maybe reply to something, click back button that is ALWAYS at the top left on ALL screens in the SAME place, and when you got back to the thread list, the THREAD DISAPPEARS FROM SCREEN BECAUSE IT'S NOW ALREADY READ...

Next thread... then right at the top of the list, so easy. Could slam through 50-100 threads with new posts in two or three minutes... all with behavior very similar to Mail, including last post test preview under each thread. Because you only care about the content... not the fluff all around it... and screen real estate is needed for thumb sized buttons.

The all sites at once thing is awesome if you track multiple topics and forums. PoA chose to remove themselves from the fastest UI for reading 13 sites I've ever had. It's really a bummer.

TT didn't waste my time. It is a UI designed to read content only, across multiple sites, and do it FAST.

This having to fiddle with a web interface and try to avoid clicking on stuff like avatar pop-ups is really wasting my time on iPhone... especially for only one site out of 13.

PoA is quickly going to become my least read site. Not because the people or content are in any way deficient... it's the UI. I have 12 others to read in a UI that doesn't get in the way and fully integrates with iOS, and works.

Gotta go drive... home... where I usually don't go in the office much anymore and sit at a computer... tablets are the "in" thing for a reason.

Super-sized phones are even better. They have these things called Apps, and they work REALLY well... web browsers are so early 2000's. :)

So, I see some of the MC are titled "super moderators".

How many people do you have to ban to achieve "super moderator" status?

:)

You are correct in that I don't keep my fingernails long. LOL, not nearly that girly. I also don't look at every new thread. I may "look" at the title but I don't open them unless they seem interesting to me. As far as Tapatalk goes, I follow two other forums but I very rarely read one (it's the Purple Board), and I occasionally read the other. No way do I follow 12 forums! Wow!

I like the long quoted posts fading w/ click to expand. That is a nice add.

I would like to request a wonderbra smilie please.

Maybe something like...ummm...oh...I don't know...

This? (oYo)

Okay, so I tried to modify my personal information, which is rather outdated. Can't seem to find an edit button.

I did manage to add an avatar, so that's a step in the right direction -- but where's the danged edit button?

In the upper left corner, there's an icon that looks kinda like a person. Hover your mouse over that and a pop-up will appear. There are a bunch of options in there.

Here's an interesting issue. If I try to paste anything in the reply box, it doesn't show up. However, once I hit "Post Reply," it's all there. Including the 20 extra pastes that I did thinking that my paste function wasn't working.

I'm using Firefox 43.0.4 on a Mac with Yosemite 10.10.5

Sorry, but I have to second the notion that I will be spending a lot less time on the site with a demise of TapaTalk UI. TT made it easy to peruse the site on my iphone and while this site may adjust for the browser being used, TT offerred a much better interface for browsing.

Thanks for the fun while it lasted

On Chrome, I've noticed that xenforo autosaves posts, seemingly server-side.

Thankfully, NoScript on Firefox fixes this behavior. RequestPolicy also takes care of a Google analytics beacon.

edited to add:
xenforo also seems to be rather bandwidth hungry compared to vbulletin, hundreds of kb per pageload instead of tens.

When is tapatalk going to be re-enabled? I ask as this isn't the only forum I read and I read all of them from my tablet or phone along with having no desire to pull up a browser to go to a half dozen different websites to simply read/reply to multiple forums. That is the big advantage of an app specifically designed for forums. One place to view multiple forums.

click the checkbox...leave conversation.

I hit the "mark forums read" button. Now they all show that I've read every post. How do I undo that?

I really believe you guys should strongly consider bring TT for folks on the go a lot. I hate to say this but it looks like I not be around much since TT is disabled.

Having to access a web browser to browse forums is really a PITA especially when you have other communities that easily accessible on TT.

Other than that, the web browser does look good. Just bring back TT too.....

I'm another one who won't be around here much if TT remains disabled. TT makes it so much more convenient to access the forum when not at a computer.

I know y'all don't care, but I'm really missing TapaTalk.

My favorite TT feature is the preview of the last post in the thread - often reveals more about the content of the thread than the title and provides an instant update on the status/evolution of the thread without needing to *do* anything (e.g., can easily see that Sixie just added some more smilies, no need to open the thread). As a result, I read (and even posted in!) more threads than I would have otherwise. It's like being able to listen in on a bunch of conversations all at once instead of having to go around opening doors to see what's happening (in a place where it otherwise looks as if nothing is happening).

XenForo on the phone is pretty good. (Except the dang pop-up/blinky/skittish scroll arrows in the LR corner a freakin' annoying.)
On the PC, it's, so far, a pretty poor experience - at least for this lurker. The thick-thin font is hard to read - I keep thinking there's a smudge on my glasses or something (and I'm not wearing any). And, with today's widescreen monitors (I've got 2560 pixels), giving posts the full browser width makes things just too wide to read. (On the plus side, Nate's posts only take up one or two lines on the big screen.)

Lots of UI bloat and bling. I've never used tapatalk, but I'd be happy with rss or nntp or anything that reduces the amount of noise between me and the signal.

We do care. We're discussing internally.

It's just a guess, but it's probably active so folks can mark all forums read.

...and it does have an annoying pop-up asking if you really want to mark all forums read.

Brilliant deduction Sherlock. Got any reasonable suggestions?

Nobody is trying to be mean to you. Everyone is just trying to say that when you click a button called "Mark Forums Read" and then confirm it when it asks you if you really want to do that...it's going to mark all of them as read and forget what you've read.

Now, if you click on "New Posts" now, it will show you all threads that have new posts in them from the time that you hit that button and if you click on the thread it will take you to the first new post in that thread from the time that you hit the button to mark things as read. So it won't impact you moving forward if you don't hit it again. But it does exactly what it says it will do.

Yeah, I don't get what @Norman is upset about. It's like Picard asking for an Undo for the Self Destruct feature on the Enterprise after he's entered the confirmation code and watched the ship explode. Maybe he's confused on what "Mark Forums Read" means??

OK everyone. Thanks for some answers. I simply thought the first one was typical internet snark. I got over it quickly.

If you guys support Tapatalk, make it so I don't have to read the ****ing tagline

"Posted from my piece of **** mobile device using crapatalk"

Hey, none of us give a **** that you use a stupid app to post.

That's a setting in the TT client. You just tell folks the auto-Sig isn't allowed on your forum and link to a screenshot of how to turn it off. You could even put it in you Sig! Heh.
