Welcome to the new Pilots Of America! Any time you change from doing things one way to doing them a different way, you're bound to wonder "where is that old feature on this new site?" We've written this guide to help answer some of those questions.
Again, welcome to your new POA forums!
- How do I "multi-quote" when replying? Hit "reply" under each post you want to "multi-quote", and it will be added to the compose window. You can do this all in advance, or "as you go."
- How do I upload images? It's much easier than before, that's for sure! Try copy/paste of an image from your clipboard directly into the message you're composing, or drag and drop an image or a web image URL.
- How can I tell if a member is currently "online"? Look for the green corner on their profile badge.
- Where is "Today's Posts"? Click "Recent Posts" at the top; it's a time-sorted view that includes not just today, but all recent posts. Note that "New Posts" is a different list--it's the threads you haven't viewed yet.
- Where's Tapatalk? Try the site "as-is" on your mobile device. Our new site features "responsive" design and layout, which means the site adapts what you see to best utilize the available screen space. Features and sidebars may move (or disappear entirely) to work better on mobile devices than on desktops or laptops.
- How do I jump back to the top of the page when I get to the bottom? Look for the up arrow hover button that appears in the bottom right corner. Same thing when you get to the top and want to jump to the bottom. May not work on some mobile devices.
- Why do I see my profile picture in a small box on some threads in the list of threads? That means you've participated in that thread! No picture means you've not yet read it.
- How do I jump to the first unread post? From the new threads list, you can click the red arrow, or the red text of the title of the thread... or if you're already in a thread, there's a "Go to First Unread" link top left.
- How do I log out? Go to your account/profile; bottom of the list of options.
- Note that MC suspensions are called "bans" here on XF, but there's a difference between a temporary ban (suspension, with a time limit) and a permanent ban (gone forever). So don't get freaked out if somebody has been banned--they might just be on a timeout for the weekend or something.
- You can tag people by their username (right, @jason ?) and they'll receive a notification / alert that they've been tagged in a message. Nice way to draw their attention to a thread.
- The system automatically saves a draft of your reply to a thread every 30-60 seconds... and you can come back and finish your message later--even on a different device!
- Keyboard shortcuts (i.e., Tab-Enter saves and posts your message when you're done typing, versus having to click "post my reply", Ctrl-B bolds text, for example).
- Click the "quick navigation" hamburger stack top right for some neat options.
- You can "Like" posts, Facebook style! An easier way to give positive feedback than a "me too" reply!
