The arrival of windy season is our indicator that spring is here; looks like I better tie everything down and get out the sinus meds, we are forecast 'gusts to 65mph' although right now it is dead calm!

Honestly, I'm at a loss as to how they explain it. The isobars are much more tightly packed in the north of the country.

pretty breezy here but also spring like. today's high is supposed to be 55. the snow is gone.

It's been really windy here yesterday aftenoon and this morning...had 35G46 at one point. The altimeter dropped all the way to 29.13 early this morning. Rain yesterday washed away a bunch of the snow and nearly all of the ice, but we've still got some snow left on the ground.

Yesterday I actually made it up my driveway in 2 wheel drive (although it was questionable at a few points). Today it wasn't a probem at all.

Maybe this weekend I'll pull the Jag out of the garage if rain washes away enough salt...

Nearly sunk in to my ankles carrying a bag of dog food out to the shed yesterday afternoon. Only snow left this morning is where the piles were 5 ft high at the end of the driveway. That should be gone today, though. WooHoo!

Spring is NOT here. Spring is only pretending. Spring is doing its normal tease routine - It was up into the 40's all weekend and we set a record high today (previous record set in 1876) in the low to mid 50's.

Then, somebody had to go and mention spring.

It's supposed to snow tomorrow.

Here in Wisconsin, spring will tease you and every time someone says "It's finally spring" or the like, we get slapped with more snow, until everyone's hope of ever having a string of days in the 60's or higher again is completely crushed.

Then, and only then, can it be spring.

Close but not quite right. Then and only then does it immediately become summer. At least that's how the East Coast plays it.

Our spring (that brief period between nasty, bitter, frozen icy winters and ridiculously hot, stuffy humid summers) lasts about 45 minutes. Invariably, I'm on a freaking conference call or something when it comes...

DES MOINES, Iowa -- A storm packing up to 5 inches of snow or more is expected to hit Iowa on Friday.
KCCI Meteorologist Bryan Karrick said current forecast models show 5 inches of snow is possible across most of central and southern Iowa. Northern Iowa could see 1 to 4 inches of snow and far northern counties could get a trace of snow.

As a side note, this will be a great chance to try out the front diff. locker I installed in the Jeep last weekend.

Between the warm weather and rain, at least half of our snow cover is gone (as in, you can see the grass in a bit more than half of the land area now), I was kind of hoping that would help the warming trend to continue. February is my least favorite weather month by far.
