Happened to be in Chico, CA over the Thanksgiving holiday, and for no particular reason drove out to the airport to take in the scene. While I was there, I saw something looking like a huge glider approach for landing--a U2! It made a few low approaches, the landing wheel never actually touching the runway, and then finally headed off south, probably to Beale, I guess. It was one of the two-seat versions, so I imagine they were breaking in a new pilot.

One that looks like this one has been in the Seattle area for a few days doing high altitude weather research.

ER2 actually. My daughter sent us pictures of one she was riding in the chase car on because her experiment was aboard.

I always liked the U-2 platform. Been around a while and is a solid aircraft. Must be hard to land on the front and rear gear.
