Touchdown! Greaser!
I just drink the $0.02 plain..... gotta watch the blood pressure and lose a little weight.
You guys ever use large cups? Michael Bloomberg may have to ban SodaStream. Heh.
He's too busy trying to prop up his dying gun ban schemes.
Heh. I had no idea when I posted that last night that today the Appellate Court would strike down his large soda ban, agreeing with a lower Court that the State overstepped their bounds. Kinda surprised. Usually doesn't go that way on the coasts.
But it was a pleasant surprise, now wasn't it?
A man after my own heart. Coke zero is what I drink. Have it on tap as well. Try Mello Yello Zero if you can find it. That's my backup drinkIt was. I guess there's a limit to the billionaire sociopath's money and influence.
As far as SodaStream goes, I will probably be a late adopter of that tech. Or a never adopter. Aluminum cans still work better in the cooler, the fridge, and pretty much everywhere. I never buy at full price if I have to. This week it was buy two cases, get two free. So there's five cases of Coke Zero in the house again.
We have a perfect little spot for them near the microwave and fridge...
(Only 4 in the photo. 5th is in the fridge.)
Oh by the way. Pet peeve here. Why do people use that silly perforated "dispenser" on the front of the cases and then continually wonder why the cans roll out and fall on the floor? There's a really simple solution for that...
Check Sam's and Costco for BIB syrups. For less than twice what you paid for 1 gallon you can get a 5 gallon BIB.

I have one I use mostly for carbonated water. Finally ran the tank out and just refilled it for about $1 worth of dry ice. Crush with hammer. Fill tank by weight. Makes the whole model a hell of a lot cheaper.
Sounds like a PITA but really isn't. Takes maybe 5 minutes.
I didn't realize the interior of the CO2 canister was 'user accessible' for that kind of a refill. Any special tools required? The "razor blade" or "inkjet printer" market model of those machines (i.e., cheap consumables sold at ridiculous markup) is what kept me away last year.
That only works if you drink it fast, especially if it is diet, like Coke Zero. I made the mistake of buying it in bulk once, and ended up throwing a bunch out because it expired. When it's expired it is nasty, no longer sweet at all.As far as SodaStream goes, I will probably be a late adopter of that tech. Or a never adopter. So it turns out the nearest dry ice supply charges $10/10lb block; $12.50/10lbs. granulated. I found a YouTube video that mentions 1 lb. to fill the small canister; 2 lbs. to fill the larger. The unit itself comes with a small canister; you can buy one or more spare large canisters @ $50 ea. Guessing 50% sublimation loss getting the dry ice home in a cooler, I figure one load of 10 lbs. will fill up 1 one small and 2 large. Compare that to $15 for a small canister exchange; $25 for the large; I'm can refill $65 worth for only $12.50; but I'm almost $200 invested in the unit and tanks. That will supposedly make >300L of bubbly water.
I don't know if I go through it that fast to justify. Besides, $200 can buy a lot of cans of seltzer. I guess I'm not really motivated enough to fool with it.

I figure I can afford to buy my soda one case at a time even if the sales are tempting.
Have you considered you probably would be better off with sugar than something that has a half life rating before it turns to nuclear waste? Please don't tell me you're dieting.
While there are argued some benefits to local honey for allergies, sugar is sugar and despite the hype on HFCS etc... it's the sugar that's bad to begin with. The other junk just makes things worse. Is this SS thing a healthy alternative to sodas? Could you sweeten drinks with honey instead of sugar or syrup? I never heard of it until this thread.
Staves off the malaria as well.If you have restless leg syndrome at bedtime (I hate that)... if you drink something with quinine it will go away.
Definitely not dieting but sugary sodas are too sweet and leave a sticky aftertaste.
I drink hot tea (with half-and-half) but I don't like iced tea.Tea is a nice alternative.

I'll agree with you on the lemonade, but even that tends to be too sugary sweet at times. Depends how it is made.I used to put cream in my tea, but then found out that all the good healthy for you things in tea end up bound to the cream and you end up with no benefit. Tea black with sugar is fine with me iced or hot. Coffee requires milk/cream for me and a bunch of sugar, and with that I am fine to enjoy it hot or cold. The only non sugar drinks I do are those squirty things for water. Outside of that, just give me regular sugar sweetened stuff, at least it has caloric value and gives me something to function on. Lemonade is my cold drink of choice though.
