Also a longtime lurker, but as of yesterday, a newly minted private pilot! This board has been a great help along the way, thank you.
Started in late August, have 3 flights under my belt and a few ground lessons. Its hard for me to schedule with my instructor due me getting my schedule on Saturdays.
Medical complete in October. Just passed my written. Got a 92% but was curious on the review because I answered two questions exactly as they were on my practice tests when I got them correct. In any event, still happy with a 92%. Now just waiting for good VFR days to build some hours and learn the ropes. Having a ball!!
Did you happen to write down these two questions and what they claim the right answer is?
I still have this to look forward to.
Day 1 of my multi add on complete. It was a long day doing maneuvers, engine out, engine shutdowns, approaches, landings, Vmc demos. Back at the hotel studying now. We did two flights today and I'll have 2 more tomorrow and third one will be the check ride.
Tom didn't say but we've been practicing the approach with a 50 foot buffer so I guess it will be with Bob?Who are you doing the ride with ? If it's Kevin make sure you take your OEI approach all the way down to DH/MDA. He didn't like how I tried to put a 50 foot buffer above the altitude. I am pretty sure he was just holding me to near perfection since everything else went great. Bob is the guy to have I hear. Kevin was great though.

Nice work, Cajun! I'm also a Louisianan living up north (NYC). Congrats on getting started, I had the same "if I don't do it now I never will" moment (without the hospital stay, though, yeesh!) and I'm SO happy I did. Tell your husband to eat your avgas exhaust!
Thanks for the welcome, Zulu (and others)!
I'm really bummed today. My last two lessons involved ~1.5 hours of touch-and-gos each. I was really starting to get a handle on the landings and flying in pattern. I had a four hour lesson slotted for last Wednesday. We were going to start with some TGs at our airport then fly to another airport, have lunch, do some TGs there and fly back. It was going to be my first trip to another airport and my first "fly to lunch" experience. I was so excited! Then... weather
Unfortunately my CFI was booked the remainder of that week and all through this upcoming Friday. I have a flight booked for Friday, but the forecast is looking bad again. I was making such good progress - even thought I might be getting a solo soon. Feeling frustrated and discouraged.
Snow season is just around the corner and I really want to get as much in as I can beforehand. Any insight regarding winter flying? My CFI said a couple of his students won't fly in the winter, just wondering why? What concerns should I have?
3.5 hrs til my 2nd lesson (1st one after my discovery flight). Got my 2016 FAR AIM, pilot log book, Charlotte NC sectional chart, rotating plotter, and E6-B8 flight computer.
I need a cool bag for all this stuff so I'll look like a pilot.
