I actually think Henning did all or at least most of the things he did. I just don't think he did any of them for very long except his maritime and aviation activities.
I think he's just an adventurous soul who wants to try out as many things as he can during his sojourn on this earth. Maybe he only spent a few days at some of the jobs he held, never intending to do them for a living anyway, but just wanting to see what they were like. I don't think there's anything wrong with that. If I had it to do all over again, I might just do the same thing.

Every time I see a "Where is Henning" thread, all I can remember being new to the site and reading RW calling out all his BS in every thread. I think he drove him insane- but I loved it. RW was especially good with his inference to the coincidence of landing gear up on a plane he was trying to sell/get rid of.

I suspect Henning is similar to a friend of mine, who happens to be from Germany. After high school, he just travelled all over the place, taking whatever job he could get or whatever job suited him wherever he happened to stop for awhile. He'd spend a few months somewhere, make a little bit of money and move on. By now, 15 years later, I'm sure he could claim to have experience in many fields, like Henning. Is he an expert at these fields? Probably not, but knows enough to say he knows something about it. Anywho, that's the kind of guy I imagine Henning to be. However, I believe he's a very experienced boat driver and deck hand based on his LinkedIn profile.
For what it's worth, I enjoyed having him around. He certainly added some color, even if 75% was the color of bull excrement.

That's sort of the way I read it too. I'm sure a few of the tales and details were embellished (the most outlandish ones were posted on the purple board which I've never seen), but most anything he's posted that I've been familiar with seemed reasonably accurate. All in all, I'm here mostly for entertainment and he provided plenty. But yeah, some of the more recent stuff he's posted on FB seem pretty "out-there".

BTW... My favorite Henning exploit was the mile high club experience while standing on the skid of a helicopter and using his hand to manipulate the anti-torque pedals. I believe it was at that point that I decided to make a list of his claims. It was longer than even *I* expected.

There was the Yellow Board (the old AOPA forums), which had become stunningly rotten with abuse and junk. AOPA announced it would be shut down for an inderminate period, to allow for a new plan to be devised.
In the waning weeks and days of the Yellow Board's existence, some visionary and giving people decided to create Pilots of America, with a management Council of volunteers and some reasonable rules regarding civility and the like., POA was born and, not too long thereafter, the yellow Board was shut down forever.
Sometime later, AOPA restarted his forms, using the same software as Pilots of America, but with a predominant color theme of red, while Pilots of America had (and still has) a predominant color theme of blue.
Pretty quickly, the two forums were colloquially known as "The Red Board" for AOPA, and "The Blue Board" for Pilots of America.
Then, another aviation form was created with the intent of capturing some aspects (and members) from both the red Board and the blue Board, and we all know that when we combine red and blue, the resulting color is purple-hence, the Purple Board for Pilots.

By the way, for those who don't know, Pilots of America is now owned by a non-profit Corporation (organized in the state of Pennsylvania, thanks to Adam Zucker), and is thus unlikely to suffer the fate that so often before all Internet forums that become very popular-the profitable sale to a commercial ad-space aggregator.

The problem is that Henning's claimed knowledge on things he knows nothing about gets in the way of the things he actually does know about.
But, to say the least, some of his posts were more entertaining than anything Hollywood could produce.

I liked Henning. Colorful. Not just a ******** artist, but the Michelangelo of same. A bit like Mark Twain in that respect. A good storyteller's tale holds a kernel of truth, you just never know what it is.
