My advice to would-be students is to get a medical certificate BEFORE they begin training. That way, they don't invest thousands of dollars and lots of time in training, only to find out when it comes time to solo that they have a medical or legal issue in their history that makes it difficult (or impossible) to get a medical.

My advice would be to get an AME CONSULT to determine if there are any issues to issuing a medical
