She's Real Fine My 409!

Great song, 409!

I fly a Piper Warrior with 50s technology and the Chevy 409 was a great engine with 50s technology. I understand it had wedge shaped combustion chambers which made it less efficient than later big block engines such as the 396 Chevy.

Just add turbos. :)

Not exactly, the later big blocks, the Mark IV had a wedge combustion chamber, it's just built into the head. The 348/409/Z-11 427 engines had a 72° deck angle (IIRC) on the block and a flat surface head building the combustion chamber in the block. The later engines had a perpendicular deck.

Bunch of coke head beach bum friends of Charlie Manson's.

50 Light Years out there in space, some ETs are seriously questioning our intelligence....

Shes real fine my 409
Shes real fine my 409
My 409

Well I saved my pennies and I saved my dimes
(giddy up giddy up 409)
For I knew there would be a time
(giddy up giddy up 409)
When I would buy a brand new 409
(409, 409)
Giddy up giddy up giddy up 409
(giddy up giddy up 409)
Giddy up 409
(giddy up giddy up 409)
Giddy up 409
(giddy up giddy up 409)
Giddy up 40...

Nothing can catch her
Nothing can touch my 409
409 ooooo
(giddy up giddy up oooo)
(giddy up giddy up oooo)
(giddy up giddy up oooo)
(giddy up giddy up)

When I take her to the track she really shines
(giddy up giddy up 409)
She always turns in the fastest times
(giddy up giddy up 409)
My four speed dual quad posi-traction 409
(409, 409, 409, 409)

Giddy up giddy up giddy up 409
(giddy up giddy up 409)
Giddy up 409
(giddy up giddy up 409)
Giddy up 409
(giddy up giddy up 409)
Giddy up 40...

Nothing can catch her
Nothing can touch my 409
(409 409 409 409)
Giddy up 409
(409 409 409 409)
Giddy up 409
(409 409 409 409)

But it was a great song! -Skip

I'm in my 20's and know this and other 60's songs well. I believe this was the only mainstream song to ever be written about an engine. Plenty about models of cars, racing, etc; but none about an engine.

I would love a post biscayne with a 409, keep it simple, clean and mean :D:D.

We just added this to our stable of toys. Fun vehicle to drive(in a straight line).

Some others from our shop for the motor heads out there. A few of these are also the subject of some great 60's songs.
