Hey guys, I'll be flying my 235 to its new owner this week, it will be my longest flight to date..
Granted it's not a super long flight, I expect 4.5-5 hrs split up between 1 or 2 fuel stops just to stretch my legs. Anyways, here's the route I have planned, please advise or give helpful information as you see fit.

Thanks again guys, it's been a blast flying her. Stupid oil prices have me feeling the pinch!

KGKY KJAN KMEI KTCL KASN KFTY KCNI 30GA

It keeps me along the major roadways for about 90% of the flight. And elevation shouldn't be too big of a concern.

I will be leaving Thursday morning if all goes well, Georgia is expecting some showers later in the afternoon which is why I might just stop once.

You sold your 235 to Bill Elliot?????? :D
AwesomeBill from Dawsonville.

I work about 10 mi/min from CNI. When are you planning on coming thru? How long you around? If its around meal time there are a couple good BBQ places nearby.
If your around for a minute I have your planes younger brother at RYY a PA28-236. I am always looking for the slightest excuse to fly.

A friend of Mr. Elliot purchased the plane. I imagine I'll be there a few days. If you're in the area shoot me a pm.

If you plan to stop at KUBS let me know. I live 10 miles from it, can go get some BBQ or something if you want.

Congrats on selling the hulk. What are your plans now?

Pay some bills, get back on my feet and start over. I'll own again, just gonna take some time. Thanks for the congrats!

Just remember that the oilpatch is boom-n-bust and plan accordingly...I've been riding it since 1979...

I have learned a valuable lesson. I won't get caught liken this again.

FWIW, the oil patch is still in high gear here in OK. If that's a line of work you are still interested in, and are willing to relocate, even temporarily, I'm sure there are jobs here. Good luck getting back on your feet!

I hate to be skeptical of your claim, however my brother in law manages or managed 8 rigs in oklahoma, they are down to 2....

Thank you for your kind words though :)

Not on the production side of the house.....

Indeed, some folks have ramped down on drilling (temporarily in my opinion), however there are still some that are poking holes like it's going out of style. There are quite a few rigs stacked out for sure, but drilling activity is still stronger than I've seen since the 80s when the last big boom was. I don't know what your specific line of work is, but there IS a lot going on here, and I truly believe the slowdown is quite temporary. Just trying to help. Good luck.

Jesse, could you still get in on the big I35 project between Denton and Dallas?

If i said yes or no I'd be lying as I don't know who to talk to.

I have sort of an interview next week for a good job, crossing my fingers.

Looking at the weather for tomorrow, seems like it will be decent and may deteriorate a little as I near my destination.

I don't know where you are looking for weather but KRYY is the nearest airport that has a TAF.

Here it is for tomorrow. When are you planning to arrive?

011734Z 0118/0218 31006KT P6SM FEW250
FM012100 28004KT P6SM FEW050
FM020200 VRB03KT P6SM SKC
FM020600 10005KT P6SM BKN012
FM020900 11007KT 3SM BR BKN007
FM021500 12008KT P6SM BKN015
FM021700 14010KT P6SM BKN025

Not the best VFR weather and if the BKN is really OVC or lower you might have some issues.
Although I have seen RYY solid OVC and 15mi north its FEW or SKC so you never know.

Arrive around 1pm.

Looking at aviation weather.gov forcast seemed like I'd have to sneak under some clouds at my destination. I seriously don't mind waiting it out, I am not in a hurry.

Why not just go direct and throw in an airport like KHAB for a fuel stop/leg stretch?

Sounds like you have a case of StayHereitis.

No, I'd like to get the plane there, but if I fly 2 hours and land to wait it out, I don't mind. I don't have a schedule to keep, just gonna fly as the weather allows.

FYI.. If I were to do this VFR I would do it in 1 leg. KGKY - SLR - 30GA, The large MOA's don't start until 8,000 feet. Plenty of room under them.

Would you fly 5500 or 7500?

Would all depend on the weather. I would go 7500' if possible, better TAS and likely GS depending on the winds.

I think you will find this to be an easy trip once you get going as long as you time it right with good weather. Pretty sure I saw there is a risk of Tornadoes tomorrow or Friday over that way. :yikes:

Well thats the key, timing. If I looks like I am flying towards a crap storm, i'll land and stay the night.

Just hoping I don't have to do that.

Looks like the route I have decided on is.

KGKY RNV 30GA

It splits the flight time pretty equally. Which will be good for the ol' backside and bladder.

I'd replace KRNV with M40 (cheaper fuel). Also, I assume you will be on flight following. Just ask ATC if the ANNE LOW or HIGH MOA is active, if not just fly right through it no problem.

I wish I was flying it! But it does look like you should sit it out until these storms chill out. Good luck, have fun!

Hopefully they chill out by tomorrow.

M40 looks decent, if I get good tail winds and my ass feels good I may land there.

Id take STF over M40..Fuel is 3.79 a gallon..and my plane is stationed there. M40 does have a brand new terminal and self serve only. STF full service at 3.79. Cant beat that.

KRNV can be a very busy place, university flight training. Stf is about an hour from RNV. Just FYI..

I see, thats the type of information I wasnt aware of. I did see they had an unusually high daily rate for aircraft, but that makes sense now.

Full service, thats nice!

Yeah then if you have time take the crew car and hit up mugshots for a burger!

And the Columbus MOA. If it is any day but Sunday, guarantee those are active.
