Rough River 2022 (2I3) 4/22 - 4/24

Imagine that, a normal-looking, diverse set of pilots just hanging out and having fun. Looks like y'all had a great time!

“Got some good pictures of everyone’s airplanes last night!“

Hi... I’m from the FAA. Can you send me a copy of those pictures. I need to get the N numbers for some letters I’m preparing.

The Grumman was so nice that it was photographed twice.

...or it's in double trouble.

Made it home. Below about 2500 had to fly 270 to get a 330 track. Nice tailwind at 4500, but had to get a pop up clearance.

Wind at home was 180 @20G29. Runway options 14 or 22. Landing was easier than expected; taxiing was harder. Pavement was wet so the nose wheel just skated.

Anyway nice seeing everyone and safe flights home!

15kt headwind the whole way home but smooth at 5500!

Had to get a popup IFR clearance on the way back to stay out of the bumps but we are home! Walked into the FBO and they ask me if I was crazy to be flying. LOL wind 220 27g36kts rwy18. Only aircraft flying out of TYQ today are Jets…. It Was AWESOME meeting everyone and coming this weekend for our first trip! Thank you for the good comments about the pulled pork we brought! Looking forward to this next year!

Frank, MVP of the Third (sorta) Annual RR POA Wingding.

Honorable Mention to Friday Assistant Cook Mutz.

Kudos to everyone there since everybody brought something to share and helped in every way possible.

Cheers

Thank you again to Frank!
We are at home after some sporting landings at Paoli, Gary and Kenosha. Thanks to @kaiser for weather on the 9s (and 2a and 5s) especially the real time frontal speed calculations! Some pictures to follow….

We went home at 7500, then 9500, then 11500 then a shade over 12 to stay on top and in the smooth air and had a tailwind. Sporty crosswind landing and just after we got home and on the couch the skies unloaded a whole bunch of rain on us.

Sorry we didn't get to say goodbye to a couple of you this morning, but we wanted to beat the weather. April loved it (huge bonus for having someone loving to fly) and can't wait for more get togethers and fly-in lunches. So maybe I got lucky.

Ditto sorry for blowing out so early, but she doesn’t like turbulence and the forecast showed earlier was better.

We need to create another flyin or maybe two. Once a year is not enough especially if you have to miss for some reason then we don't get to hang for 2 years.

I know Gaston's is a fun one. six yankee niner is great but it's a long long way away for a lot of people. this area seems to be good for a lot of folks.

We need to see if we can do this more frequently.
