But what are "RNAV landings"?

Random navigation... you just let the airplane go where it goes.

All the years I flew 121 I didn't care what I flew over, and I've flown in and out of jut about all the commercially served airports in 2/3 of the country.

DTW doesn't count as most of those neighborhoods are boarded up and vacant.
