Ridiculous Funeral for Police Officer

In our social order, schizophrenics are about 12 steps below that dog's feces.

It's pretty easy to to say, "Well, he should have made better decisions, he had it coming." But when somebody truly is broken, you can't say that, so we seem to look the other way and pretend we didn't see anything.

Near the upper right hand corner of the page there is a drop down menu button titled "thread tools". Click on it and there will be an "ignore this thread" option. Click on that and you'll never have to see this topic again.

I'm no fan of this topic. But I'm no fan of random censorship either. This is "Hangar Talk" after all and the rules are:

It appears to me like this topic is fully compliant. Well, except for maybe John Baker's comments but that's the norm for him.
Actually it is not at all. It is a forum, a place where pilots can bat around the many assorted things they have on their minds. Many of these things can be objectionable from time to time, but that is why it is called a forum.

Attempting to stifle forum conversations runs contrary to what this site is about, a place where we can have our thinking validated or challenged by others.

If you joined this forum in the belief that it will always toe the line with your own beliefs, or only discuss topics you approve of, then perhaps you need a more controlled forum that is always the way you like it. You might try this one http://forums.officer.com/ or perhaps this one http://www.firehall.com/forum/

You both are not getting my point.... I asked why we needed TWO threads bashing the very same subject. I would understand if this was half a year later, but 8 days ago this topic was being discussed. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I'm not saying "everyone should feel as I do", I am saying do we need to keep making the same thread every week with the purpose to bash LEO's? :mad2:

Tell me exactly how are the two threads different? They are both about the OP feeling that LEO funerals are too much and excessively done. Why not keep it all in the original thread instead of filling the entire Hanger Talk forum up with the same hate filled rants over and over?

Wouldn't it get on your nerves if I made a new thread everytime a LEO died in the line of duty? I am sure after the 3rd thread or so I would be banned....

Is Jdennis even a pilot? Kidding man, I kid. Complain all you want, complaining is what the interweb is for. And complaining about complaints.:D

I have a complaint with your failure to complain about complaining complaints.

Do we really need two threads in the same month about the same topic? I didn't join this site to bash police officers, but I guess that's all this site America is now....

FTFY.

LOL. Internet not going your way? You should try to fix it.

It is a common problem on forums. Just scan for "How do I log this" if you want to see a large number of duplicate threads. Search is perhaps one of the least used items and perhaps the MODS and Tech staff could get reimbursed for such a low used feature.
On the other hand, you could go over to AOPA. You're hardly likely to see much off topic or duplicate threads except the aforementioned logging question.

Your obviously upset that many of us are "bashing" law enforcement, I understand your position. This might help you a little: When I was an NCO in the military, we had a saying that said; "The troops aren't happy unless their bitching.", and another that said; "Start worrying when they stop."

We have made thousands of television episodes and movies over the years that did nothing but glorify our police. Trust me, police have had more than their fair share of good PR.

I know it must be unsettling for you that there are "TWO" threads that contain some responses that do not glorify our police. All I can say to you is try to get over it, it will pass. There will be more threads. You want the troops do be happy don't you?

See a trend developing? Notice it.

These aren't the victims of the no knocks at the trailer park on the other side of town, kids with "skateboarding is not a crime shirts on" or black youths in Compton. But, Real life well off adult white people taking notice.

I thought the OP was posting about a dog.

What kind of service does one have for a dead dog?

It seems like a stretch, but I can imagine a big parade, because nobody has to say anything.

But if there was a big funeral service, I am struggling to picture what would go on. Where would they do this. A church? Dog park?

Who would speak, and what would they say? A priest, maybe, to say that there's no afterlife for the dog, so Spot is just dead, and just get over it, people? Or maybe a dog trainer, telling stories to celebrate the Life of Spot, with maybe a tale of how he loved a good bone when he was training?

Would dog friends be welcome at the service? If so, is it considered bad form if they all sniff butts as they come and go? And what would happen if a cat got loose, just after all the dogs finished sniffing butts and finally settled down to hear the priest speak? Would there be complete mayhem?

Maybe they should just have the parade, and call it good?

Spot was a great police dog, always indicated whenever his handler wanted him to...

I for one welcome our new canine overlords.

My neighbor is a Fireman and was telling me that they had a grand funeral (to include 45 police cars) for a LEO young baby that died awhile back. I guess the baby had struggled for months after birth. Sad story.

He looked at me puzzled when I said "Geez, what a waste".

"No indication that any government agency or the 1200 people at the funeral for the dog would have shown any extraordinary kindness or generosity toward the suspect back when they could have done something more to preempt such an event. Think any of those 1200 people will now show the same level of support for the homeless mentally handicapped or unstable humans who periodically die ignoble deaths on the street that they did for the dog? "

And the VAST majority of these 1200 people were on the clock, so all the tax payers funded their "grief"..:mad2::mad2::mad2:............
