So imagine, you're in some horrific sci fi world and you end up in your grandmother's back yard sweating of rhubarb and ant poison as she goes to bake some confectioneries. Now, let's say you don't do confectioneries. Not because you don't like them, but they make you fat and chicks don't dig fat dudes unless they are rich and granted you're a pilot but not a real one like you fly a Cirrus or not but wait that's not the point.

Dinner.. is the thing. What is dinner? In the north and western context it is the evening meal where you eat lots of stuff and you didn't eat much for breakfast or lunch. Yes, I am aware that dinner means different things in different places. My folks spoke of supper. It meant dinner. The meal at the end of the day. Some folks eat supper at lunch. Some folks eat supper at breakfast. No matter. Whatever. Diversity.

Anyway, I was watching Predator vs. Aliens. I was sort of rooting for the Predator but then again I viewed the Alien as potentially having the better tax plan but on the other hand they probably weren't postured to deal with North Korea as much. An Alien couldn't mess Kim Ung Jong's haircut up if it tried, but a Predator could kick his ass.

But that's not what we're talking about. Those that know me know I'm a low carb guy. Women that know me know I'm a low carb guy. Guys that hate me don't give a f**k what I eat. Women that hate me bake me a chicken pot pie.

This thing looks like it is going to take over the house, neighborhood, school district, and possible eat the Governor, not that it would be a bad thing. I don't know what I'm supposed to do here. There are a lot of carbs. I'm a fuel injection guy. Should I just leave it, or go out on my own for some (lettuce wrapped of course) burgers from Carl's?

There is lettuce in the fridge but lettuce wrapping a confectionery misses the point by any standard.

I’m pretty sure I absorbed some of the carbs just staring at the pot pie.

A good pot pie should not be passed up. Eat your portion and be glad. Your tombstone will say: I et whot was sat before me.
That is all.

Funny, I'd expect the pot pie to be turkey this time of year.

But in any case, take 1 bite, say "that's delish" then go about your business.

Looks good to me.
I just made some cabbage rolls with purple cabbage; can't wait.

Eat it. And skip any carbs for a day or so after to make up.
Moderation is a wonderful thing.

I believe the OP hates grandmothers, America, happiness; and sadly, himself most of all.

“There are 220 calories in 1 serving of Homemade Chicken Pot Pie. Calorie breakdown: 40% fat, 43% carbs, 17% protein.” *from fatsecret.com

Also from that entry on fatsecret.com:
"Ingredients in this Recipe:
16 servings Brookshire's deep dish pie crust
..."

One 220 calorie serving is 1/16th of a pie???

Since it has crust on the bottom and the top, 16 servings of crust make 8 servings of pot pie. Yum!

Remember, good pot pie is also deep dish. Mom used a cobbler dish, and the results were generally 4-5" deep. Two crusts is not a lot when cooked like that.

Wasn’t the predator an alien? Wasn’t therefore alien vs predator basically alien vs alien? Was there a predator lobbyist group that protested being called aliens because of the stigma that is attached to that term in our modern political correct world? After all, some folks consider aliens to be mostly rapists and drug dealers. But then wouldn’t predator be considered offensive as well due to the term being tied to certain sexual offenders? Being compared to the likes of Roy Moore or Al Franken must sting. I mean, some of them might be good people. Maybe not good people but good ETs.

Oh, the pot pie. Granny cooked it for dog’s sake. Eat it and quit being a girl.

We can cut him some slack. He's Alaskan.
They only grow frozen vegetables in the permafrost up there.

Chicken is good. Pies are good. They don't belong together.

I say just wrap a head of lettuce around the pot pie and eat it. You will enjoy it and still feel like you had a healthy meal. :)

Just ****ing eat it or give it to the ****ing dog on your way out. Don't have a dog, then give to a homeless person.

Gotta love a crispy pot pie. Mmmmmmmmmm!

Hmm mk, apples are good, peaches are good, cherries are good, etc, but not in a pie? That's totally ****ing un-American Sac!

:lol::lol::lol:

The last few pot pies I had it seems the main ingredient is carrots. Once I took those out there wasn't much left to eat. Just one or two pieces of meat, celery, a few peas and then all carrots.

And carrots in pot pies, soups and other prepared meals are the carrots that were turned down for real meals. The carrots that were not used in pot pies are not put in anything else except the trash....

See , this is why your eyesight is bad Zeldman, ya didn't eat your carrots!

Never liked them. I can't imagine even a really really good one not being bland.

First off sir your original post protested the presence of carrots not the over abundance of carrots you now describe. Furthermore you have extended the protest to include the quality of carrots you encountered. These additions to your stated objection have transformed the original protest to the status of a rant. You sir are guilty of a tag along rant in an interwebz forum. In the future sir please avoid attempts to sneak a rant into another poster’s rant thread. The consequences for such actions can be quite harsh.

Let's talk about RVs and get to 12 pages! Yeeha!

Oh wait, we're talking about carrots, never mind.

edit: we must think alike Zeld lol

But can we get 12, 13 pages like the motorhome thread..??

Only if we repeat ourselves a hundred times. That carrots cannot go off road in such a pie. Even the FAA agrees that carrots have not been certified to fly; regardless of the system used for launching.

Sac,

I bet I can convince you otherwise. The proof is in the 'fixins' and I can make one you'll enjoy. I'm not southern but I believe more "fixin's" than "trimmins" are part and parcel of good home cooking. If it says "Chicken Pot Pie" shouldn't the major ingredient be the unfortunate fowl that found itself in hot gravy and in the oven? Some veggies are in order to flesh out the dish.

My kitchen skills are good enough to put to serious shame any CPP you may select from the "frozen" aisle.
