Meet the Fokkers
Was watching this Captmoonbeam video.

He's assigned runway 2C
At about 4:05 in the video he asks what the winds are.
They are 310@6kt
He then calls and asks for the longshot of getting runway 13
Looking at the diagram below, why would he ask for 13 instead of 31?

Didn’t have time to watch it but he may be going to Signature.

Looks like he would have had a more direct/faster approach going to 13, and with a 6 kt tailwind & 11,000' of pavement, it was acceptable.

They tell him unable, probably due to traffic...but then he comments that the wind favors it. That's what got me wondering.
Signature makes sense with the winds only at 6kt.

I didn't watch the video but if the winds are light I'd consider asking for something similar if the requested runway was convenient for a straight in approach instead of spending time (and gas) flying a circuit in the traffic pattern or if it would minimize my taxi time.

Good idea.
I believe these guys answered perfectly though.
Saw a different video just a few minutes ago, and at the end he did radio that he was headed for Signature.
That does look like a lot of taxi/turns to get there lol so I think I'd ask for 13 also.

He didn't say the wind 'favors' it. He said the "wind 'works' for it"

Maybe he is dyslexic and mixed up the 13 and 31? Winds from 130 would have given him a direct head wind.

Nope, he was willing to accept a small direct tailwind on a huge runway to get a (nearly) straight-in approach.

I'm sure there is something wrong with me... the SHORTEST runway in that diagram is 7700' and they are all 150' wide?

Who gives a flip about the winds? Not much challenge.

Been there. Taxiing from Signature from 2C is a real pain in the ass. 13 would be much easier and with winds less than 6kts, the direction is hardly an important factor.

Yup me too. Except where Signature is was a different name, and another FBO down by where Atlantic is , which also had another name then. But that was 30 years ago. Seems like most of the country stars used the FBO where Signature is now.
