PPL certificate delayed?

This might be addressed in another thread and if so please point me in the right direction. If that’s the case I apologize.

Here is the question - I passed my PPL checkride on 12.22.18. I received my temp license (to learn) but obviously have not received my official ticket yet. I’m under the understanding that the temp is good for 90 days. I feel and hope that this government shutdown will be over before the 90 days is up, however, if it is not open and I do not receive my ticket within 90 days due to the shutdown, what does that mean? Does it imply a new test? Or just simply contacting my DPE (who is very cool and seems quite logical) to have him reissue my temp ticket?

Yes, contact your DPE. I have nothing in writing that says he can reissue/extend but it seems logical.

What am I thinking? Using "logical" where the gummint is involved? So maybe yes, maybe no... Nevertheless, I'd start there...

1. The FAA website currently states: “We are currently processing permanent Airmen Certificates for temporary certificates that were issued approximately November 16, 2018.” So you can extrapolate an expected date for yours based on that.

2. 14 CFR 61.17 states “ A temporary pilot, flight instructor, or ground instructor certificate or rating is issued for up to 120 days, at which time a permanent certificate will be issued to a person whom the Administrator finds qualified under this part.” So your concern regarding 90 days is unwarranted.

I believe the DPE can issue a new temp certificate, come worse case scenario.

True. But the civilian insurance company and lawyers that would be involved if something were to go wrong aren’t on furlough.

No only an asi can reissue. The following is a cut n paste from a post on my union website, it came from someone at united.

This info was received from United on how to obtain temporary authorization to exercise certificate privileges due to an expired temporary certificate. The correspondence from United indicates; “Due to the government shutdown, the FAA certification branch has stopped issuing new airman certificates. This is affecting pilots who have recently completed a qualification course and were issued temporary certificates valid for 120 days. Pilots in possession of an expiring temporary certificate may obtain a new one at http://amsrvs.registry.faa.gov. The login is your faa MedXpress username and password.”
• Login
• Select “request temporary authority to exercise certificate privileges.”
• After reading the restrictions, select next. Check box under “Request Temporary” and select “Expiring Temporary” in the “Reason” dropdown
• Select and fill in your email at “Other E-mail” and submit.
• An email with new temporary certificate valid for an addition 60 days will be sent as an attachment.

Haven't dug deeper but hopefully it's valid info.

but up until yesterday stated “We are currently processing permanent Airmen Certificates for temporary certificates that were issued approximately November 16, 2018.”

FAA website now states they are working on 11/18 dates and my record in the airmen inquiry database was changed from Student to Private Pilot yesterday.

As far as I know, when they change the issue date(in the database) they shipped it on that date.
