Portable Electric Air Conditioning from Peter Schiff

I’ve had zero issues with them. It’s quite a nice unit, we have 4 of them installed and they all have just been great. Flying in aircraft that are doing about 500 hours a year, I probably put 250 hours on the unit in a year per plane roughly.

Everyone’s mileage may vary but I’ve met all of them during these installs and thought they were great to work with.

What install? I was thinking this was a non STC temporary, portable unit.

We did a 337 on wiring up the power lead and intake/exhaust vents. The unit itself is modular and just treated as such removable with no tools.

We're 0 for 2. And truly appalling customer service.

I hope you had better luck than I did with the Sofielite. I purchased a Sofielite unit from Peter Schiff Aero and immediately had problems. The unit would leak water and spit water out of the vents. I contacted Cole Schiff and he had me perform various tests which I did, and videoed these and sent to them. Eventually, they grudgingly agreed to take the unit back to repair. After four weeks, they decided to send me a new unit. At first it worked, but after a few weeks, it began doing the same thing as the first unit and spitting out water and leaking. Peter Schiff then entered the conversation. He acted as if they were doing me a favor to fix the faulty unit. The conversation quickly went sour, and both Peter and Cole stopped responding to my calls and emails. Since this experience, I have found many others reporting similar functional problems with their units, lack of integrity (not honoring warranty), and zero customer service by Peter Schiff Aero. Poor product and appalling customer support. Lawsuit to follow.
You do understand that is how all A/C systems work. Either in a home or car or plane.. They all create condensation that will make it to the vents. I have set in may restaurants under the vent and got dripped on when the temperature difference is right.

Of course all AC units create condensate. That is what the drain tube is for. But this unit blows that condensate out of the vents, onto the ceiling and passengers. And water also drains from the bottom of the unit onto the floor of the airplane.
We've operated numerous airplanes with different AC units. All drain from the drain tube, and drain tube only. Except for this one. And again, worse than the malfunctioning unit was the attitude and non-existent customer support.

Eh —- a properly functioning AC removes the condensate before it enters the duct work. Nothing should be dripping or spraying out. Or growing mold. An AC unit in fact should be able to be used to dry the air.

Exactly. And both of these units that we operated did NOT function properly and sprayed water out of the vents.

To add to what's been said above, an air conditioner can move more than twice the amount of heat energy compared to the energy they consume. That's why people use heat pumps instead of resistive heaters.
Phase change is a powerful thing.
