Plane thief - is this kid still on the loose?

Yeah, he's still on the loose. And there are a lot of folks around here who would be happy to end his spree. It is really getting old. On the other hand, there are those who regard this turkey as a folk hero. Go figure.

Two Ship of F-16's with AIM-9X Missiles should do just fine.

Pretty good for a psychotic kid who learned to fly on MS-FS. No medical, no student or pilot cert.....

And Bruce's description fits to a "T" what happened several years ago at Twitchell's Airport, Turner, Maine. A C-150 which Cedric Abbott had restored disappeared from the airport. The plane eventually went down over the Canadian border -- ran out of fuel. The MS-FS kid had hot-wired the plane, took off and flew till fuel starvation, never having taken a prior flight lesson.
He spent quite some time in the clink, pending action, but I don't know what finally became of the jerk(who had other legal problems, too).

Yeah, he's doing "great" so far, but I predict his spree will not end well for him. Just hope nobody else is involved when it happens... :frown2:

not so great a pilot, he has crashed every time on landing.

That's because he is a psycho, not because of MSFS!

I honestly believe that someone, who would have to be crazy of course, could learn to "safely" pilot a plane from the software. You don't get the feel of pressure from the yoke, or the adrenaline that flows on a landing. But, there are plenty of sim pilots whom fly as is for real and are willing to help others learn the "proper procedures."

He probably missed the lesson on toe breaks. :nono:

edit: He's still and idiot and I hope that he gets caught.

Nope.

I'm talking about the garden variety MSFS setup, not full motion simulators.

Landing requires peripheral vision to do well, and a scad of crash and goes before one gets the hang of it. A simmer may be able to walk away from a landing but it will not be "safe" by any definition.

Well I just batting a thousand here lately, ehh? I ment that as a joke!
See yall around.

I cannot believe that the TSA special forces has yet to catch up with that kid!!

The kid is probably smart enough not to carry more than 3 oz of
bodily fluids.

I've been reading about this kid. There was a big article in Outside Magazine about him. It is interesting that people like him take on a sort of hero status. For some people he becomes a Robin Hood type, even though he isn't giving anything to the poor. That is just a minor point. The bad guy becomes the good guy, and the good guys, who are trying to stop him, become the bad guys. There is just a little bit of rebellion in everyone. I guess that it is human nature to root for the guy who is giving it to the "man". I will bet the owners of those planes he is crashing don't see him that way though.
