Ack...city life
Recently I noticed my partner permanently affixed a placard to the panel. The placard says, "Aerobatic maneuvers prohibited"--pretty vague if you ask me. Seeing how he and I are the only ones who fly this plane I guess the placard is his way of telling me to watch the G loads. Anyway, the plane was originally certified to include any maneuver except outside loops and in any loading. While the airframe was completed in May, 1945, there was an extensive ground up restoration in 1990.

I recently noticed a placard on the panel of another plane which lists airspeed limitations in knots but the airspeed indicator is in mph only.

Your thoughts, please.

I would ask him 'Whats Up with the placard?' Maybe he's ready to buy you out or something and this is his way to get that started.

I believe that all of the placard listeds in the limitations section of the POH must be in the aircraft. As far as I know, you can add extra ones you want.

My favorite being "If you need to smoke, please step outside."

Not going to get in this crazy partner debate... However, if I bought into an partnership in an Extra, and some partner put than in it... I think I would bring along a black electrician and have him apply some tape to that placard... :)

Have you checked the type certificate data sheet for whatever it is you fly to see if this is a required placard? You can find yours here.

Ron, yes I have, I even have a copy (revised) in my file on the a/c.

What gets me is his placing the placard in the first place. The plane is displayed/hangered at a museum. He knows I'm trying to accurately restore it. I would be easy to ignore a "NO SMOKING" placard but when it comes to maneuvers it's like whoa, better check this out. But I already knew it wasn't right because I have poured myself into discovering the history of not only this type a/c but this particular a/c.

I should put a placard in there that says, UPON LANDING, USE RUDDER BEFORE BRAKES because he burns through pads so quickly. We could have placard wars until eventually we couldn't see the instruments.

Yea...partners.

What about the other placard (kts vs mph)?

A placard not required for the type could be ignored...there is no authority in the placard.

Well, you can ignore any placard. :) But yes, that was what I was trying to say...

But ignoring the mandated placards will result in consequences--you better think about it, you better think about the consequences of your actions.

You better think, think about whatcha' doing to me.

ahem...

...sorry

Ignoring the frivilous placards will have zero consequence except you may be asked to step outside.

Ah, so it's a partnership, not airworthiness, issue. Sorry, no ideas on that one. Partners who don't operate collaboratively are the reason I don't co-own planes.

Then clearly it's the wrong placard. But since it's not your plane, it's not your problem unless you fly it.

The best placard I saw was in a pitts.
"Barfing Prohibited"
