Hmmmm..

I am guessing that too based on the fact he was with SLC center, and I cannot think of anyplace in their sectors where he could level out at 2000 msl and not hit the earth..

He was? Naw....more like LA center and based on the topo, im gonna say he was out near El Centro. Center also called out the Miramar altimeter.
