Pilots streamed airplane bathroom video to cockpit

According to the article, she took a photo of the flight deck iPad with the streaming lavatory video using her cellphone. If true, that would be pretty convincing evidence.

Or the pilots were playing a prank.

Having seen the people who fly scheduled airlines,

2017 this happened? Almost 3 years. Guess someone is looking for a promotion.

If this is a prank -which is probably the most believable explanation in hindsight - it’s a pretty stupid prank in this day and age.

I suspect that the lawsuit may end up being for the emotional damage from the prank. And the outcome of reporting it

No one is going to take the time if they even had it to rig a hidden camera in the lav at SW. They would be giving up being future millionaires for a felony conviction and a life time loss of certificates.

This was a very common airline prank in the days when people had a sense of humor. It went along with the ice maker in the back, flight attendant in the overhead bin, blind CA, crew member in the E&E compartment ect..

Did not need another reason to never fly on Southwest again.

From what I had heard, this was a common prank that pilots pulled on new F/A's. It was a video the pilot would play on his iPad when the new F/A would come to the cockpit, and hilarity would ensue. She complained to the company, thinking that it was a real video. The company told the pilots to stop it, she didn't think it was harsh enough punishment, she was told to mind her own business, she didn't, she was disciplined, and then she decided to sue.

You've heard this...so you have inside knowledge of what happened?

it only takes one stupid a hole to ruin the entire party.

Such an enlightened view. Insult the woman without any facts. What a dolt

and "you must believe her without seeing any facts" same enlightenment, other end of the spectrum. thats why we have a court system, to find facts.

I didn't read that he believed her.

Like a plane crash that just happened, we don't know what happened, or who is in the wrong in this case.

The airline responded in this Houston Chronicle story.

Court filings by attorneys for Dallas-based Southwest and the two pilots denied the livestreaming allegations, and Southwest on Saturday issued statements saying it will vigorously contest the suit and denying it places cameras in aircraft lavatories.

"When the incident happened two years ago, we investigated the allegations and addressed the situation with the crew involved," the company's second statement said. "We can confirm from our investigation that there was never a camera in the lavatory; the incident was an inappropriate attempt at humor which the company did not condone."

The suit against Southwest, a company known for its joking and irreverent behavior by flight crews, and the two pilots was announced Saturday by attorneys for Steinaker and her husband, also a Southwest flight attendant.

Did you read the article ?

Yes. However attacking the woman who didn’t know it was a joke was the problem I had with your post. The knee jerk response to blame a woman for being a “whackdoo” was what I was bothered by. If you knew this was a failed attempt at a sophomore high school level prank then you should have said that. Instead you commented on the woman for complaining about it. That was my issue.

Somebody got picked on during sophomore high school and has no sense of humor and now must defend everybody's feelz. How awesome it must be suing everybody after April 1st at the Steinaker house.

Before we continue this, I think we should stipulate a few facts:

#1 There was no camera in that planes bathroom.
#2 The footage of the CA taking a leak playing on the ipad was a canned piece he had generated at a prior occasion.
#3 As based on #1 there was no camera, the FAs privacy was never violated.

With that out of the way:

What we have is the digital equivalent of placing 'rubber dog poo' or a 'rubber snake' into the middle school girls bathroom and to assemble a crowd on the outside to witness the hilarity that ensues. The correct reaction is not to send 'bullying SWAT' to the offenders house to shoot his dog, the proportional response is a dress down in the vice principals office.

Soo, for her to turn something that was a prank that didn't invade HER privacy into quite literally a federal case, suggests some degree of whackadoodleness. The lawyers bringing the suit having a high Martindale rating just proves that other ambulance-chasers admire them for their skill at squeezing money out of big employers.

You know those pit toilets at national parks and campsites? There was a guy that was caught down in one, taking pictures of people using the toilet. Yes, he was down there with a camera. Claimed he dropped something.

There's all kinds of idiots and pervs out there.

Camera in the lav..... that is the funniest thing I have ever read.!!!

Hmmm.... now someone is gonna get a video of themselves opening the door and jumping out of the plane (not in flight) then play in on their iPad while the new FO is watching....

There is an entire paraphilia of folks who get off by watching others taking a dump. At a local college, one of these weirdos got caught after he installed a camera in the men's room and posted clips to relevant porn sites.

In this case, the FOs reaction of telling her that this was a secret feature installed in all -800 aircraft leaves two options:
- two pervs ended up on the same pairing, recognized each others paraphilia and quickly conspired to rig up the bathroom prior to takeoff.
OR
- it was a theatrical production using a clip the CA had on his iPad.

What's more likely ?

Have you met any pilots? I'd vote A.

True. After some of the penis humor from the blues and people getting reprimanded for pornographic mission signs, I guess you could end up with that combo...
