Thought I'd do my part to help sell this amazing airplane! I've shared some of these photos before, but there are some new ones too!

For Sale:
2006 Oshkosh Grand Champion
“Aleutian Tiger” with combat history. Authentic Paint.
A very simple story. This aircraft would not be for sale, but we were fortunate enough to get to purchase a dual cockpit TP-40N.
As much as we love our K, we do not need two P-40’s.

P-40K
430 hrs since restoration and overhauls on prop and engine. 30 hours since IRAN at Vintage V-12’s. Last flown in December 2024.
Red Line brakes and a spray bar system make this a daily flyer, if you desire. 3 fuselage tanks and plumbed for drop tank.
$2,800,000 usd

… counting up the change from the couch cushions …

Hey, honey, we don’t really need this house any more, right?

What is a spray bar system and what does it do to aid daily flyability of a P-40? I googled for the answer but the only airplane-related result was this thread.

Not that I have the money or would spend it on a warbird. But maybe when a P-40 in my price range comes up I can plan for upgrades to make it a daily commuter.

It comes from the factory already configured perfectly for a daily commuter role. From the airfield to the front line for a work assignment, then back to the airfield, every day.

My guess is it has something to do with the radiator and cooling. The P-40s were notorious for overheating on the ground. It was important to get in the air quickly to get air flowing through the radiator.

This is the first time I can recall anyone advertising a warbird as a daily flier. I wouldn't want that fuel bill!

I think that the fuel bill is below the noise floor of the maintenance costs of flying a P-40 every day. But you're probably right with your guess about the spray bar being a cooling-related thing. I've only been near a running P-40 once and I remember the pilot saying his time on the ground was "heat limited."

At $2.8 mil (and I'm not saying she isn't worth it) if you can afford her, you can afford to pay her feed bill.

But, sadly, I just don't think that my field's runway is long enough (dern nab it).

My hangar door isn’t tall enough, or I’d have the checkbook out. Darn it

Spray bars are used to increase cooling efficiency. Found on Reno racers to keep temps in check at high power settings. They spay water across the front of the coolers to increase thermal transfer. They don’t really help on the ground as there isn’t enough airflow to atomize the water.
