What? Her knees are right up against the panel. Looks uncomfortable.

Okay, maybe that didn’t come across the way I intended, but I’m being serious.

I know, just ****ing with ya Ryan.:rofl::rofl:

Finally! Actual cool airplane picture.

Why was it a surprise? Or was it their arrival for the weekend?

They aren’t performing at Oshkosh this year. I was flying back from Wisconsin yesterday and heard the tanker talking to Center as they refueled following their pass at OSH. After refueling the were headed to the Fargo Airshow.

The tanker also did a couple of low passes. Rob Reiter claimed over the PA that he was only told to sing the national anthem, to start at a specific time, and to be done in a minute and 30 seconds. Whether you believe that he didn’t know in advance what the special surprise would be or not, I for one certainly did not expect to see the Blue Angels until I saw them.

We made it in at about 1245. Initially parked us in warbird alley, but decided they’d rather tow us up to the plaza!

See if I can destroy everyone’s data with some pictures on the way in...

Trimotors launching directly overhead.

And a couple other interesting contraptions.

Looks like she’d need to have knee pads if it were a bumpy day. :)

Not offended, we're fortunate she doesn't have a separate account like Mrs. 6PC!

View attachment 65404 Starting day two of the one week wonder.

I'm barely visible in that picture. See the straw hat. See the bald guy behind the straw hat. See the guy behind that guy? OK, I'm the next guy (4th total) in that stackup - beige hat on the far side of the fuselage looking down and towards the fuselage. That looks like Tuesday afternoon when we were fitting/installing the side skins, rollbar, etc. on the airplane. I worked two days on the OWW, and as the builder of an RV-6 and a nearly complete RV-10, I can tell you that the RV-12 goes together incredibly fast.

My buddy Wayne (who went to Osh with me) is the guy in the left foreground looking at the project with his hands on his hips.

Arrived Monday and left Wednesday evening. Saw only a fraction of it.

A couple more from yesterday. If you didn’t notice the time, yes I’m just getting around. Yes I regret going to Kelly’s last night. And yes, I also regret not taking pictures there.

“Welcome to Oshkosh!”
Ugh. Lol

I first heard about Oshkosh in 1992.

26th straight year I have missed it, a new record.

Don't take it the wrong way, there is nothing wrong with OSH or others like it. I am the person that doesn't go where the crowds are.

And I enjoy seeing others pictures.

I also avoid crowds. I generally don’t like being around other members of the species more than necessary. I would recommend making Oshkosh an exception. It’s worth doing.

Roger that.

Some pics this evening from the seaplane base. Beautiful place!

The crowd part is manageable except for getting onto the airport. Driving in is a CF, Taking the bus from the dorms isn’t bad if you time it right and don’t have to stand, and no comment on the goat rope at Fisk Sunday. Once on the grounds, there’s really no crowding so you’re free to see all that’s to be seen.

Cheers

Thanks, I would rather look at everyone's pictures instead...:yesnod::yesnod:

Nice pictures everyone, keep them coming. Only been to Oshkosh one time. I think it was in the mid 80's when I was a starving collage student. Drove up from northern Illinois in my 72,3/4 ton Chevy pick up (no power steering or power brakes, manual 4 speed no a/c) with a camper top(think I paid $75 for the camper, it was old but kept the rain off). Barely had enough money for gas. Ran into some nice folks who let me join there group for drinks and dinner. Great time.>>:)

FAA normobaric hypoxia simulator. It was an extremely useful experience, but has limited availability.
