If you could only fly one aircraft for the rest of your life which would it be, and why?
 
The one I could afford. There is no way to choose only one plane for the rest of my life. I have a good 40 years of flying ahead of me. Parts break companies go out of business and then you're stuck with an airplane that can't get annual/fixed. It's like choosing to only drive one car when you turn 16.
 
I'm not sure any answer I could give to that question would have any point to it, either, unless I was 95 years old.
 
I like the Piper Warrior personally so I guess push come to shove I'd choose that..do they make them anymore?
 
The previous owner of our 310 made his choice: a 310. He owned this one for 25 years, and replaced it with another 310.

I would have to agree with him - but I'd like diesel engines.
 
Falcon 7X if someone else is paying the bills.
 
This is purely hypothetical...I am aware logically there are many factors to take in account. Just curious.
 
As much fun as I think Bonanzas are, I would probably go with a Grumman Tiger.
 
I'd pick a Cessna 180/185. It is a great "all-arounder." It can go anywhere, its a good instrument platform, it is reasonably fast, it can carry four, and it ranks high on my "cool" meter.

I just wish Cessna would start building them again!

The REST of my life? I don't know, I haven't been LSA shopping recently.
 
For me it would an IFR equipped Cessna 150 with a 150 hp engine and long range tanks, with factory equipped floats (that could be removed.)

Ah, wait, I had that plane N8526J, 150G.
 
I'll probably stick with my Navion until I can't pass the medical anymore and jump ship to light sport.
 
Expedition E350. The one with the turbocharger, just because. It does everything--goes fast, carries a ton, can go unimproved, etc. I want.

Turbo Twin Comanche. Just fits my wife and myself, is fast, and doesn't drink too much (gotta compromise between fuel burn and altitude capability). And they are fun to fly.

I remember that they lost an obscene number of those...

When I was in the Air Force, (back in '69-73), the standing joke was "If you wanted to find a Luftwaffe pilot scan the horizon for a column of smoke. He and his F-104 would be at the bottom.
One of the few planes I didn't get a chance to fly.

Hmmm, I'd have to say the RV-12, but I'm getting kinda partial to the Fly Baby as of late.
 
L-39 albatros as long as it came with one of those cool flight suits.

Fast enough to go anywhere, slow enough to land anywhere.
 
Yeah, it keeps the "rest of the life" expenses down to a more reasonable number.

As my combat firearms instructor said:
"If you find yourself in a gunfight, you have the rest of your life to come up with a solution. How long that is depends on your solution."
 
The dream is a Pilatus PC-12. I think I could fly it as long as I can keep a medical. It can carry all of my baby's stuff plus mine and then some. It has a head.

Reality is what I'm flying; Bill's RV-10. It's comfy, fast enough and cheap enough. I can maintain it. It brings me great joy just sitting there, thousands of feet up, just because I built it.

Planes aren't all that good at attracting 'babes' but it is good at getting you where they are. Yep.

(I have proven to myself over and over that, much as I like flying traveling airplanes, I just have no use for one.)
