It stopped them from flying into a thunderstorm. Does that count as a "save"?"AIRCRAFT WAS STRUCK BY LIGHTNING WHILE IN THE RUN UP AREA AND THE PARACHUTE DEPLOYED, MIAMI, FL."

Wouldn't it be hard to take off with the 'chute deployed.??
That’s why it was a save.
Wouldn't it be hard to take off with the 'chute deployed.??
SHOCKING!! (someone had to say it)
Good that you were able to see the “positive” side…... and the pilot was current!
I'm sure I would have discharged in my shorts. That’s funny. Bet somebody had to change their shorts.
Striking insensitivity.....If the pilot's first name isn't "Wile", it should be.
You should be ashamed of yourself.Long walk back to the terminal after the accident.
I too would disappear in a flash. The pilot couldn’t be interviewed after the incident. He was late for work and had to bolt.
My parents' house respectfully disagrees. 4 times. They should mark the spots on the airports where this happened? Because we all know lightning never strikes in the same place twice.
Just like the $15k that was vaporized from the pilot's bank account for the parachute re-packI too would disappear in a flash.
More than that now, I think. And that assumes that no further damage was done to the airframe and/or electronics.Just like the $15k that was vaporized from the pilot's bank account for the parachute re-pack
He is sure to grid his teeth at the bill.Just like the $15k that was vaporized from the pilot's bank account for the parachute re-pack
Covering pilot accidental deployment but not covering static discharge induced deployment, would certainly be one nasty moral hazard of a precedent.More than that now, I think. And that assumes that no further damage was done to the airframe and/or electronics.
Hopefully covered by insurance, and not exempted by some “Act of God” clause.
Maybe it has a Lightning RodMy parents' house respectfully disagrees. 4 times.
