That's the plane that used to belong to Oakland Flyers isn't it? I have many hours in that plane years ago. Good to know it's still travelin'.:)

Possibly... all I know is that it was acquired by a partnership (Western Air Logistics) about 10 years ago, originally with four partners, now with three of which I am the newest.

It's a nice plane - they got a lot of neat upgrades into it over the years, including a P-Ponk engine, 430/396 combo, engine and fuel flow monitors, and so on, as well as a fully redone interior recently. It even has oxygen. I very much enjoy flying it!

Good to see Watsonville has an on-field restaurant again. The food was pretty good and service was excellent. Good choice of dishes. Plan to be back.

It's great to see a new restaurant in the old Zuniga's space. We stopped by on a rainy Sunday and were happy to find Props quite busy. The burgers and fries were good, but they also have more intriguing-sounding dishes, like the tapas small plates available for dinner. Currently they're open for lunch and dinner 7 days a week, with breakfast on selected days. Service was fast and friendly. We'll be back!

Well, I've come down with the second darn cold of the season, I doubt that I'll make it tomorrow. The coughing would be annoying.

You must be referring to that annoying TV commercial.....! Sorry to hear. Was looking forward to a chat. Get Well!! How 'bout just getting a RICOLAaaaaaa...

Am having an ethics spat with a few cyber-bullies on this forum and their moderator stooges. So if you don't hear from me for awhile keep me in the loop for meet ups at drvii at hotmail dot com. Am bringing a newbie to the canard world tomorrow. Will pick him up at Concord. And I think a buddy with an award winning Cozy will join us. You're gonna like this plane, unlike mine, it is absolutely gorgeous.....

Looking forward to seeing some of you and checking out the new restaurant at Watsonville.

Nice! When I was flying it, it had the standard for the day King stack (no GPS, but bonus DME), the standard Conti O-470, engine monitoring was done by wobbly needles and the interior was basic blue cloth. Good airplane. Last time I flew it according to my log was 3/20/2002.

I got my HP endorsement in that plane and flew it a lot because it was always available. Not many people flew it because Oakland Flyers was and is primarily a training facility, so most people there focus on the cheapest way to the airlines. Me, I fly for fun and fun only. They must curse the day I finally bought my own plane!:D

I am not going to make Watsonville after all. I have to pick up my son at the airport. Have fun.

Heh. I daresay you will be pleasantly surprised when you see it...

Sounds like it suffered the same way 182s always do in flying clubs.

Oh yes. Indeed. I know of one horrifying story associated with that plane. Lets just say, it does have damage history. To my knowledge though, it was repaired correctly.

I'm out for today. Honey do's, and Various other things have conspired to kill the dream for today:mad2:. Monday is all mine!

Yes. That's the reason it has a new P-Ponk (under 300 hours) and prop

Ricola wouldn't help...damn I hate colds.
Sounds as though the late March get-together at Columbia is a sure thing.
And your plane is pretty cool. :yesnod:

Didn't meet anyone today at Watsonville. Seemed to be a nice turnout for lunch. Guess we need hats......!

Hello all,

Our family flew to Columbia yesterday for lunch and we had by far the worst Mexican food ever. Just wanted to make a note in case anyone was considering El Jardin Coffee & Restaurant. The restaurant was filthy and the food was stale and tasteless. We were pondering how dirty the kitchen must be given the condition of the customer area. I'm usually pretty easing going with restaurants but this place is worth mentioning as a "bad idea" for our flyin.

I have eaten at Bart's Black Skillet a couple of times and it is OK. I have also eaten at one other, I think on State Street. I think it might have been Roberts and it was pretty good (I had Salmon).

I like pattys shack out the main road and to the right. Short walk. Everything in the state park I have found to be sub par. Even the candy shop sold me stale candy. But it was off season. Like to walk around have a Sarsaparilla and head home.

Last time I was there I ate at some restaurant that was musty, had creaky wood floors and some old codger banging out saloon tunes on an upright piano. The food there wasn't impressive however the waitress costumes more than made up for it and somehow made the meal far more exceptional...again, this was just my experience :D

Sounds like you ate at the Columbia hotel which I find fine. Anyplace other than the place I mentioned please :)

Sounds like a winner to me. We are flying to KJAQ after this for our weekend mini vacation so close to the airport is great.
