I read about a new "Moss Interpretation" today.

Essentially, it says A&P supervision of work must be in person. Didn't seem that big a deal to me, but some people are getting fired up about it. So maybe it is a bigger deal than it seems. For example:
 
How this is enforced would be very significant.

Higher shop costs, owner assist minimized , less Techs via experience

are some points.

Fixing a non - broken system?
 
Thank you for posting this. On the surface I like it. I don’t want the owner harmed by restrictions but some shops are seriously are abusing the law more than many realize.

And this will change that in what way?
 
Yeah gotta finish that kit plane....how long until the revenuers crack down on that?
 
Just heard the policy was rescinded or on hold.
 
What I find interesting is the individuals complaining the loudest about the LOI have the least amount of experience actually supervising people during aircraft maintenance. There's more to this than the LOI. :rolleyes:
 
Telling someone what to do is not enough.

The supervision has to explain to the person what the task entails.

Then insure the Trainee understands what they are to do and not do.

Then the supervisor must monitor the progress.


IMHO the MIL does a decent job with a given MOS/AFSC.

Training Records of capabilities is now common with Repair Stations as well.

Dealing with individual aircraft owners is a different story.
