Got me a new shootin' iron today! Thought we may have a few gun guys/gals and thought I'd share. By all means, if you like to talk about or show off guns, do it here.

Today's catch: Ruger SR1911 Lightweight Commander

I'm kinda partial to my Ruger Super Blackhawk .41 Magnum revolver. It's anything but a lightweight, and has stopping power to spare. It's not new any more . . . No photo at this time.

I can't decide if I like Ruger's new 1911s in new stuff, or Springfield's 1911 Mil-Spec in Stainless. But nice.

Nice pistol....personally if i were to ever get a 1911 it would be stictly a range gun, I'm already quite comfortable with my EDCs for personal dfense

Nice indeed. I decided to add another 1911 to my collection last summer - kind of a daily shooter. I had a hard time deciding between the Ruger or the Remington. I bought the Enhanced Remington & have been pleased.

Would still like a Ruger though. Great choice!

Thanks, dudes.

A friend of mine bought one of these a while back, and I had to have one. It's really light for a 1911. I had been carrying a Rock Island 1911 officer model that I absolutely loved (yes, I said ROCK ISLAND ARMORY), but I let a guy talk me out of it a few months ago. That thing ran everything I ever fed it, and I shot milk jug caps with it at the range. It was shorter than the commander size. I hope this Ruger serves me as well as it did.

I've had my eyeballs on the Kimber and Springfield 1911s, but I can't bring myself to hand over those extra Benjamins.

I've had a hankerin' for a revolver with some heft for a while. I may alleviate that hankerin' next time. Methinks a Ruger GP100 in .357 mag will effectively scratch the itch.

Those are nice too.

Stop it. Stop it. Stop it.

I'm trying to spend money on flying right now! LOL.

I picked up a Para stainless elite 1911 .45 couple of years ago. I like it, it shoots nice and the sights are great but I really wanted a Ruger. They are lighter and I think they feel a bit smoother in their action and trigger.
I didn't want the stainless but the price was right, traded a 22 mag rifle for it, so I have been thinking about something to replace it with. Have always liked the Ruger products so I am envious.

Wait, I thought we were supposed to received a "trigger alert" (via PM) whenever an offensive topic came up, to give us time to retreat to our "safe zones"?

Say what? While I do fancy myself a compassionate soul, if somebody thinks that a model 1911 is offensive, they can get bent. This is 'Murica!!!

another 1911 fan ... I had a National Match Colt that the Navy let me use when I shot bullseye at NAS Miramar, and a Colt Gold Cup as personally owned backup. Carried an Officers Model for defense. The last couple of years I've really been impressed with Rock Island Armory as well. I have 2 Compacts and one Long slide from Rock Island in .45 ACP and will start looking for a full size in 9mm from them next spring.

Very nice! I'm glad to hear someone that has owned and shot some really nice 1911s give a little praise to RIA.

I really liked mine. Fit and finish was good, nice and tight, had all the must have mods, fed flat nose and hollow points no problem, shot straight, and went boom every time.

Now you've gone and hurt my feelings. The mere thought of that big assault gun shooting (it's so LOUD!) has triggered my PTSD, and I will now curl into the fetal position to contemplate my navel in my safe zone.

Me, I'm a 9mm guy. Got a S&W and Keltec...

Dude, you ain't foolin' nobody. You can't be the guy that flies the texas (small caps) flag higher than anybody at Oshkosh, and be offended by firearms. I suppose if you hailed from Austin, I'd bite, but I know better.

lol Let's see, I own three hand guns, a rifle, belong to a gun club/shooting range, and my business butts up next to a gun store.

Nope, not offended by guns.

I had some guns once. I forget exactly how big the bullets were that they shot. But, they were pretty loud and it hurt my hands when I shot them. I lost them all in an unfortunate accident at sea a few years back. Since I'm sure guns will all be a thing of the past in this kinder, gentler world that our soon to be elected government will provide, I haven't bothered to replace them.

Yeah, I think mine may also suffer a similar fate if some things go a certain way. ;)

one of my shooting partners is all gaga over the CZs ... I think he has 2 of every one they make. It's an addiction.

Break em out! Ive got a couple Kimbers and love the Springfields. You wouldnt be disappointed with either. Ill try to post up a picture of the Infinity I won at a sniper match a few years ago. Pretty sweet 'trophy'!

Gotta love the pussification of America

I used to own the following before a tragic incident involving a buoyant vessel and water:

Glock 17
Glock 27
S&W 642
Ruger 10/22
.22 mini pistol. -I forget the make/model because I don't shoot it. It only holds two .22LR cartridges and fits in the palm of my hand.
AR-15

And my all time favorite:
M1 Garand

Geeze, what a wiener. AR's barely even kick at all, but I'll agree, they are very loud.

Dude, I gotta have a Garand. It's on my bucket list. Them things used to be a dime a dozen. Now they are a grand per Garand. See what I did there? ;)

Also on my bucket list is an M1A. I've toyed with the idea of customizing and M1A to be as close to the XM21 sniper rifle that my uncle used in Vietnam, then give it to him as a gift on Veterans Day.

Who am I kidding, I've got so many guns on my bucket list, it would take all day to list them.

Garand M1
Swiss K-31
GI1911
Colt Police .38 Spc - My pals 1st 'on the job' sidearm from patrol in 1968 to Detective, retired on NYPD - very accurate.

or so I've heard.

One Garand isn't enough. I had three but sold one. I had three 1911A1s and sold one. About to buy a custom Colt 1911. Nothing for sale anymore.

I can't wait until I'm old enough to buy handguns. 4 more months. All I have right now is a Remington model 700 BDL chambered in .270

I love my 1911..I have M&P 1911PD..LOVE IT!

I have a Ruger LCP .380, M&P shield 9mm (my carry gun), Windham AR-15, Ruger American .308( deer slayer), Mossburg 500 for dove, Mossburg 500 tactical (home defense), Ruger 10/22 tactical, Mosin Nagant, and my trusty crossbow for when I want to kill deer in the warmer months. And of course a pellet gun...just because.

Only 1 Garand - in 30.06 from DCM back in the day when you could only buy 1 ever. Paid $96 for a VG H&R. Now DCM is CMP and there's no 1 only ever limit - only wallet health limit. They're a bit more than $96 now.
I wish I could have kept the Don McCoy built National Match Garand in 7.62 that NAS Miramar entrusted me with.
Winchester model 70 in .308 is my pretty much everything go to long gun.
Ruger mini 14 for plinking/varmints while I avoided the AR craze. I recently succumbed when the prices came back down, and I've built 4 so far.
Assorted shotguns and .22 rifles for fun and games.
I need another safe and someone to distract my wife when it comes in the back door.

A couple .50 cal front stuffers just to keep things interesting during early elk season.

Ha! All that and I can't run tapatalk on iPhone - meant to edit and replied to myself.

I want to do a build with this lower. Haha. Cracks me up.

"No step on snek" "Pew Pew Pew"!

Available here only as an 80% lower...

That's just awesome! No Pew, Pew, or Pew Pew Pew!

I've been thinking pretty hard about building an AR in .308. I "need" something that can reach out and touch in semi-automatic fashion. Thought about an M1A, but I'm pretty sure I can do it much cheaper with the AR platform.
