NA Deer through windshield

This happens a couple times a year here in WI too. We have way too many forest rats (deer).

Of course, it's already legal to git 'em with a bow & arrow, and in about a week and a half we can start shooting 'em too!

The above collision was a bit unusual(bouncing off another car), but we have had many instances here where someone tries to avoid a deer/cow/horse/peccary and their only response is to yank the wheel hard......resulting in a rollover etc. In those cases, I wonder how the outcome would be if they had done minimal steering and put all their effort into speed reduction (maximal braking). Still might total the vehicle but if it doesn't enter the cabin, they'd live.

They're trouble even when an object isn't moving. Take a look at what we found in the yard last Saturday...

As best as I can piece it together, he injured himself on the way in. There were some very bloody hoofprints near the fence. On the way out, he decided to jump uphill (mistake 1) from very moist earth (mistake 2). One hoof sank in the mud on takeoff, hilarious consequences result. Or not.

That kid has a trophy he can talk about the rest of his life.

We saw SO MANY FREAKIN' DEER on our drive from Seattle to Kansas City last week--it was literally unnerving, and we stopped at sunset in Casper WY when we'd planned to make it to Denver, only because there were SO MANY FREAKIN' DEER.

Every mile, there was a 30-50' blood stain on the highway with parts and pieces. We saw a buck chasing a doe, they hopped the highway fence and headed for the freeway, everybody braking madly (but fortunately, straight ahead, as you should!), and the deer turned at the shoulder and went back into the fields, hopping the fence again on their way out.

Lots of deer, elk, mule deer out there this year.

My wife has a Pontiac Solstice and I have a Chevy Silverado. I almost never want to drive the Solstice after dark this time of year. I am afraid that a deer will jump out in front of me and I figure we are dead ducks if we hit one with the Solstice. Same with the motorcycle. This time of year I want plenty of Silverado between me and any deer in my way.

A buddy of mine hit a deer in his BMW M-Roadster. I have the same type of car and have been afraid of a deer strike as well. Luckily when he hit the deer the animal fell fast enough that he ran over it instead of it coming over the hood. About $10k of undercarriage damage occurred.

Friend of mine hit a deer in a 911 Cabrio, with roof down. Knocked the legs out from under the deer and it went flying over the car. Lucky for him it didn't land IN the car.

I have a customer with a deer hit Solstice. Outside of waiting 40 days for a hood (GM/shipping companies can't seem to deliver them without rendering them unusable) It wasn't that much damage compared to the $11K to a Dodge Sprinter last week. That guy must have been flying. Deer season kept a bunch of my body shop customers fed last year.
