It used to take me 15 mins to book an airline flight, now it is hours!
I want to book elp->buf round trip in Sept., 10 day stay.

The latest hurdle is that U fares are a very low 258@ and go when and where I want with a minimum of stops and concommitant hassles..however when I checked the refundable version of the same flight (I have three octogenarian fam mmbrs to think about) the fare goes to 905@!
Is there such a thing as travel insurance applicable in the event of a 'family emergency'?

OK I see they show it during the checkout process, good rate too.
I just booked a ticket today from DEN-EWR on UAL because the two airlines I normally use either don't fly that that route (Southwest) or charge an astronomical price with a stop in MKE (Frontier). It seemed like I went through a whole bunch of screens where they asked you if you wanted to add some extra service for a fee, travel insurance being one of them. Then it got to the part where they wanted my credit card number and address but it wouldn't let me enter a state because I am in Canada. It insisted on a province. Therefore, I had to find a link to the US site and start all over again. :mad2:

I swear, modern automation is a step backwards. In the really long ago, I could make a 5min call to the travel agent (do youngsters know what that even is) and it would be done.

My preference is to avoid them altogether.

But, for work, I generally choose Delta, because they fly into Greensboro, which is the closest airline airport to Winston-Salem, and that doesn't require me to changeover in the 2nd worst place in the United States (Houston). Granted, Atlanta isn't much better, but it ain't Houston.

For personal travel, I prefer Southwest because they don't suck like every other airline does.

Yeah. It's called "Southwest Airlines."
