Today: A fine example of an aircraft that turns heads on the ramp.

Same plane (I changed the tail number)
I must be pretty shallow. That would have been a deal breaker for me.

While I prefer your paint scheme, the former isn’t all that bad. Seen a lot worse.

I saw this fly in during the Bicentenial at a Navy base in NE Philadelphia in 1976, forget the name of the base. It was a big airshow w/ Bob Hoover in the Shrike, Blues, and other acts. The Navy had some wild paint jobs on their planes for 1976, Air Force a lot more subtle and boring.

The seat coverings match the old exterior better. But, that's easy enough to fix.

grummans make the best rain catchers

Where was it based? SanFrancisco? Provincetown? Perhaps Key West?

Not sure about gurmmans, but in the RV realm the choice between a tip-up and a slider is whether you want your leaks in the front or the back. :)

New paint doesn't make a plane fly (much) faster, and you don't spend a lot of time looking at the paint when you're flying it in any case. ;)

Not half as ugly as this one....
