I'm almost comlete with the F-24 my mind keeps asking what's next.

Built kit from scratch? Some thing like the bear hawk or supercub look alike. EZ ?

Restore another classic?

Build a kit for an owner?

The project must have a resale / profit factor on the plus side of the ledger.

Any insite or suggestions that will turn a profit in todays market?

Damn, Tom! First of all, THANKS! for renovating the F-24 and all your former projects. I'm being very selfish here... you are an artist and you have done more than your share to keep antique aircraft flying. I think it would be a shame to waste your talent on anything built from scratch. I can't advise on what can turn a profit.... you are a better judge than I. Just thanks, thanks, thanks for keeping the old girls up there, and may you continue as long as you are having fun!

With deep respect,

My wife wants an Epic, a quick job.

Find a neglected LSA-eligible Ercoupe to restore. What was once worth $10-15K sells for $25-30K these days.

I think a 3/4 scale P-51 would have some good potential although I have no idea of the actual profit margin.

I'd second the LSA-eligible Ercoupe suggestion, but expand it to any LSA-eligible classic. Those values will only go up.

Those are long term projects, this F24 has taken me 7 years, I'd like to shorten that to a year or so.

What Skip said!

It's getting harder and harder to keep the old birds in the air, and it takes craftsmen like you, Tom, to do it. I only hope that when I'm an old bird that someone is still performing the same quality work so that I can still watch them fly.

If you want ROI, then go with an RV-10 - lots of build support, proven marketing, and sales are solid.

I'm afraid the -10 would just be tedious work for you, though. Sure they're customizable, but it's not a very 'crafty' type of airplane to build.
