Santa came early, driving a Dodge Sprinter delivery van. Dropped off a beautiful new 2009 Yamaha FZ6R because I've been such a good boy. Just finished putting 20mi on her. Fun fun fun in the hot hot sun.

Enjoy. Avoid crashing.

it'd be pretty funny to scream down the interstate on that thing at 90 mph in flip flops, short and sunglasses. while popping a wheelie.

90 mph? That is slow!

:yikes::rofl:

You should see me all geared up. I'd look silly on a Harley - Alpinestars jacket, gauntlets and boots, Frank Thomas pants, Shoei helmet. Wouldn't do it any other way, though.

You only posted three pics the one of Christina sitting on the back in hotpants with the biker chick tat is missing. Did you forget that one?

Yeah, that'll be the day...

Please be careful. Also, exercise caution when accelerating in turns. I don't see a steering damper, so the bike may be subject to harmonic vibrations in turns.

All that said, looks really sweet.

FF, they are no fun till you test them by out running a cop. Did that on mine yrs ago, didn't know it was a cop just assumed some jack___s was on my tail mess'n w/me on the hwy. So I took off. Next thing I know I had lights and I was peg'd out. Stopped as soon as I saw lights and I was shake'n like a leaf! Never went over 120 on the ground again.:D Didn't even get a ticket, told him what I thought was going on.

Be careful, people like to turn out in front of bikes...been there done that.:yikes:

Nice Ride. I'll get mine cleaned up and we'll have to find a poker run to ride.

Very nice Andrew. Guess I'll have to take the plunge and get this now. :D

Duks are pretty bikes, and spendy. They run well though. Not as fast as mine, but far prettier.

Supposedly the newer Duc 848 puts out 130 BHP and the 1098 puts out 170 BHP. They updated the engines and now the service intervals are about a third longer. I agree though, its hard to beat the Japanese bikes for shear power and value.

If this were on your Facebook page, I would click Like. Big in the local press (Atlanta) this wknd was a bike stopped after going 170. Threw the book at him. The moral of the story is...don't get caught.

That's very cool, Andrew, I hope you enjoy it. We'll have to go riding sometime!

I just picked up a new toy myself on Saturday. It cost less than yours, but needs a bit more work:

1997 Suzuki TL1000S. Has about 140 hp, 1000cc V-twin. Bought it not running and got it running and riding with about 30 minutes of time investment.

He stopped?!?

Idiot.

Wow - very cool. 1000cc would be a bit out of my league right now!!!!

Yeah, a 1000cc bike is not for beginners, especially not in that range. That said, now that I've got a few miles under my belt I don't like anything under 1000ccs. It doesn't take a lot of time to get there, but you definitely want to start off with something in the 600cc or less range.

A wise man once said,
"Those who can, do.
Those who can't, throw money at the problem.":D

I've been known to do both, depending on what the situation warranted. :D

Actually, the 600cc bike lacks little in comparison to the larger bike (which itself could use a seat and plastics). It has nearly the acceleration and fails at the top end, where no one should be riding anyway. A good rider on a 600 bike can outrun a mediocre one on the liter bike, especially on a turning course.

Went to Houston to get my new truck over this past weekend and drove it back to Michigan... Saw lots of bikes on the road and many of them were in street clothes, doing 80+ on the interstate, some even in shorts... I think the problem is that most of these guys procreate before their Darwin Award can remove them from the gene pool...

I've had my 600 up to 157mph on the interstate.

You now have a goal.
(I really need a look out for me in the Vette, I've only touched 140 with that.)

I always wear a helmet. I always wear jeans. I generally wear an armored jacket with armored gloves. If it is a long trip I'm also wearing a camelbak.

When it gets extremely hot--95+ you can count on me taking my jacket off and riding with a t-shirt. There comes a point to where I sweat so much with gear on that I get sick. Sick and dizzy with gear is not safe at all.

The jeans aren't perfect -- and they'll shred nearly instantly if you went down at interstate speeds. I accept that risk.

I know that I could wear more gear -- but there is a tipping point where I'll take comfort over gear. I'm out there to enjoy it. I know there is risk.

I've been sweating like a pig in all my gear, but what am I going to do? Stare at my baby in the garage????:D:D

I have two full sets of gear (other than helmet), which ends up covering anything from about 40F up through 100F. The problem with long trips is that you end up needing multiple sets of gear for the day, or some way of regulating temperature. I really need to get some new gloves for real winter riding.

So Andrew, how do you like it? :)

need a mini HVAC system plumbed through the leathers. how hard could it be? a little intercooler, quick disconnect hookup to the coolant system on the bike.

Like an astronaut suit? Neat or dorky....one of the two...

Once you get moving, you usually are just fine so long as you have mesh gear. Even on 85+F days, I'm happy so long as I have my mesh gear on and on the highway. It's that low speed stuff that gets bothersome.

Dah, 'specially on a sportbike. No big windshield to get between you and the air. I'm always picking up doodads at the local discount gear mart. I've got multiple wardrobes of this and that by now.

Dan- I know someone that rides in winter around the ACY/PHL area. They have electric gear that plugs into the motorcycle to . I don't know how cold she's (and her group) ridden though so I don't know the effectiveness of such gear.
