I met her at Lone Rock when Lance was kind enough to fly her in. I've got a vid and some pics somewhere. It's been quite a few years. Brave, nice lady. Very sorry to get this news.

I'm a bit older than many on this board. Have to say, cancer is affecting a LOT of folks I know and is a threat to all. Wish we could find better ways to address it.

Such sad news. :(

I had hoped to meet her, but unfortunately did not get the chance. She was certainly well-thought of and a friend to many. Rest in peace, Moxie.

Me too. I still have her two voice mails on my phone from last year. I knew there was a reason I didn't delete them.

Me too. Is there any way we can put up a donation link similar to the server upgrade donations we did a while back? We could probably collect more than enough to pay for the memorial. Maybe donate anything over that to a aviation group or cancer research group in her name.

She never posted here much, but her presence was always felt. Can we get her avatar updated like RotaryWingBob's?

Each Memorial wall inductee also receives a one-page biography (500 words max. plus photo due June 11, 2012) in the 2012 Memorial Wall Registry Album.
 
Ok I'll have to confirm this with the rest of the MC but I'm sure they will agree. I can use the POA account or my firms trust account to hold the donations. I'll suggest that you send checks payable to Pilots of America and in the memo section write "Moxie Memorial" It must say "Moxie Memorial" in the memo section so I know what the hell its for. Grant I'll leave it up to you to tell me who to send the check to for the memorial.

Grant and I will work this out, and please send donations to Adam. If we have an overage, we'll probably post a poll to see which charity the "extra" money may go to.

Edit: Over on Babes and Airplanes I see that Moxie wanted donations in her name to go to the American Cancer Society. Sounds good to me.

I think Grant may be better equipped to gather the information for the biography.

What more can one hope for than to be remembered. Oh, and in a good way. Which is how she will be remembered. I never met her, but everything I've seen says that was my loss.

I am a pilot today because my first wife of 25 years died of cancer. In the fog of grief several months after she died I spontaneously decided to turn into the airport near the cemetery where she is buried after visiting her grave site one day and I popped my head into the door of a flight school just to see if it was possible to learn at my advanced age (52 at the time). They took me up for a discovery flight and I've been flying ever since (except for one year off to recover my medical certificate due to a little heart attack thingy). During my PPL training I used to drive over to the cemetery after my lessons and tell her how it was going.

Life is short. Live it as hard as you can. I can't think of any experience worth having in all the world more than leaping into the atmosphere at the controls of a flying machine.

heh, I'm probably a pilot today because my mom died of cancer. Doubt it would've worked out that way otherwise.

I concur... That discovery flight will hook a person darn fast. I went on one 30 years ago at 3 pm one saturday. My first lesson was 14 hours later on Sunday....

Been awhile since I posted here... Kind of surprised my login still worked!

I have volunteered to take over the Babes site and have been in contact with one of Moxie's friends who will be getting me all the technical information. We have until May before the current hosting and domain name registration runs out, so we have some time to get things rolling. I have several other Babes who've volunteered to help me with administrative duties.

I'm all for the memorial plaque at OSH and will post here what I posted on the Babes board. My humble suggestion is to use a slightly more personalized Babes motto on the second line: "She liked to go flying with her friends"

It's a bit of an understatement on how she lived her life, but then, she was like that sometimes. Vibrant, but self-deprecating. Outgoing, yet quietly reflective. Moxie was many things, but she was always herself and made no apologies for it.

Just my humble 2 cents.

Hmmmmm, only 28 characters.... one of these maybe:

- She's flying with her friends
- Loved flying with friends
- Lived life to its fullest

I think the first is exactly 28 characters.

The last was something she said many times, that she wanted to live each day to its fullest and wanted all of us to as well. It's even in the story of the "Rose with Wings" Babes logo.

I can't believe I'm saying that I've paid so little attention to POA forums and the Babes recently that I'm just now finding out about Moxie. I'm in absolute shock! She was a blast to be around the few opportunities I had at Oshkosh. The Babes were one of the very first groups I joined and I've met and stayed in contact with many of them. I hate to see it go too. I wouldn't have many of the friends I do without her though. Blue skies and tailwinds Moxie, you will be missed.
