I'll be flying West in the next month or two. I've been lucky enough to have kicked cancer's ass three times already, looks like I'm not going to be able to pull off a fourth time. I'll just leave the board and site as they are and when the renewals are up, they'll be flying West also. Love you all, thank you for enrichening my life so much.
xoxoMoxie
I'm hoping that she's just being pessimistic, but I fear that she isn't. Any chance that we could resurrect the Babes & Planes section here as a lasting tribute in case she's not?

Here is Moxie with Leslie and her Mother at AirVenture this year.

Oh my. I never had the privilege of meeting Moxie, but what a fun vibe she has always created.

PoA was the temporary home of Babes & Airplanes when there were technical issues, I must imagine wee could carry on the legacy in some way...

I've been hanging around the Babes for a long long time. I saw her post on the Babes board. What a sad deal .. I don't hardly know what to say. She's added so much to so many of our lives. I've met so many great people thru
that group. I remember back when they used to get together a couple times a year. I made a few of those and it was great.

Hopefully someone can take over the board and keep the legacy alive. Jesse?

Oh no! Babes and Airplanes was one of the first aviation sites I ever visited and where I got to know many of the people here. :(

I was lucky enough to meet Moxie a couple times when I was visiting her neck of the woods.

RATSH*T.

I hate to see the memorial wall at OSH get another plaque, but Barbara deserves one.
Yes, she does. I'm really bummed that she wasn't able to make the White House dinner this year, but really glad that I was able to hook up with her and spend some time together while she was there for a day.

Yes cancer sucks, I hate it.

While I have been a long time PoAer I never really got to meet Moxie, bu her names comes up in so many places. I think a wonderful tribute would be for everyone who knows her to tell their favorite Moxie story. That way memories of her will be here for all.

S***.

Never got to meet Moxie in person, but was always taken with her kindness and friendship online.

This really sucks. :(:cryin:

:nonod: This is sad news! Never met Moxie myself but I think that I recall her posting on POA about whether or not she should fly herself to the funeral of a good friend who passed away from cancer. Such sad news! Cancer SUCKS! Damn it all!:(

Damn, damn, and more than that; there just aren't the right words to express my sorrow. And for the last couple weeks I've been sitting with an orange bumper sticker that I haven't managed to get into the mail. But I'll do it tomorrow.

On it is the inscription: "Moxie MAKES MAINERS MIGHTY" and hand-signed on it is the inscription,
"A Moxie Drinker - Frank Anicetti."

I always visit Frank when I drive through Lisbon Falls, Maine, and have a Moxie float(Moxie ice cream in the Moxie drink).

Frank is known/accepted to be the current day most knowledge of the history of MOXIE, the soft drink. Google:
Frank Anicetti - The Moxie Store
and you'll get a bunch of hits.

So sorry, Barb.

Wheelz & wings, Harley, Jerry, Lawreston(pick one; same horse - different stalls)

Frak. There goes my day. Actually, my week, if not my year. Met Moxie once, but boy did she make an impression. Yeah, you can only "beat" cancer so many times before it gets you in the end. I am so sorry I didn't connect with her at the Show. Tailwinds.

OMG!!!! The Babes is how I found my way here and found some of my best freinds. Oh Moxie say it isn't so!!!!! We will miss you so much.

Cancer and alzheimer's.

Wouldn't wish either one on my worst enemy.

I've never had the pleasure of meeting Moxie, but from what I have heard/read about her, everyone has always spoken very highly of her.

Not good. Not good at all. I've never met her, either, but everything I've seen says that's been my loss.

CANCER SUCKS. There just isn't another way to put it.

Grant, keep us posted. Someone replied to my flying thread saying they knew Mari through the "babes" site.

I never met Moxie, but like another poster said - I'm sure it is my loss. I have enjoyed all the female pilots I've met so far and it is a shame I may never meet such an important one.

Moxie is one of a kind; a true class act. She's been dealt a really hard hand, and plays it remarkably well. When I talked with her at OSH, she was working on illustrating a children's book, the main character of which was coincidentally named "Moxie"! And I do mean coincidentally, because she didn't come onto the project until the book was actually written!

Aw man... that's just sad. Loved hanging out with the Babes and Airplanes group way back when it started on AOPA. Never met Moxie but I enjoyed chatting with her several times. Hate Cancer.

You would have loved meeting Moxie. She is the #1 Babe!

This is a picture from 2006. We happened to have a trip to the town where Moxie lives so she came and met us for lunch and had a look at our airplane.

Cancer is the greatest scourge of our time. It's taken my mom, dad, mom-in-law, dad-in-law, aunt... It's just a nasty, nasty thing.

Tailwinds, and a toast to a life well lived.

You should be seeing a physician at least once a year, and he or she should know this. With that many first degree relatives affected, your likelihood of developing it is, er, uncomfortable. Best way to fight cancer is to detect it early.

Marty Bevil, a moderator on the AOPA board lost his brother to cancer. It dawned on him that he'd lost a lot of relatives to cancer, and went to have himself thoroughly examined. They found a lovely little tumor in his kidney. Did their thing and now he's all better. That might not have been the outcome had the tumor time to develop.

Marty got served with divorce papers the day of his diagnosis, or thereabouts.

What a great photo, Mari, thanks for sharing.

Also, awesome plane you have there.

Moxie's setting on Ralph Martine, We lost Ralph to cancer a few years ago, as we did Tracy's dad, John Laurence, All internet friends that started way back with the first chat room on AOPA, circa 1997.

Moxie is not yet gone.
However, after helping her a bit getting recertified some 8? years ago, I knew it was bad when she sold her share of the M20....
This hangs in the office- she created it....

Moxie we will miss you.
