Most absurd airplane crash scene ever?

I don't understand - it was a multi-engine airplane and the right engine was still running. No reason to crash.

ConAir is bad all the way around. Who knew the transponder was kept in a bag under the seat.

The clip illustrates why I don't go to movies anymore. CGI makes cartoon like images of things that couldn't actually happen.

Fake!

I think they came in a little hot, might have even exceeded VNE a few times.

Same for me.

The original "Flight of the Phoenix" is one of my favorites. They actually built the "Phoenix" and had to get it certified by the FAA.

seems legit to me

Having actually flown a couple Dollar Nineteens in my day, that sequence was, to put the best spin on it, total BS.
But heck, it's a movie. You pays your money and you suspends your disbelief.

The C-119 used in the Phoenix remake is just down the road here at Buckeye AZ.

Just flew over it a couple of days ago.

For bad crash scenes, I nominate the gear-up forced landing of the Hughes racer in the berry patch, in The Aviator. Leo was manhandling the controls like it was a skiploader instead of a high-performance airplane. From touchdown until the camera cut away from the interior shot, with the airplane still moving, was eighteen seconds. Plenty of time for Leo to mug for the camera.

Never knew there was a C-119 at Buckeye! It's one of my favorite transports. I'll have to go see it!

Does anyone know why there aren't any flying in private hands or on the airshow circuit?

You beat me to it Jeff. It took forever for that plane to come to a stop.

Air Force One movie crash scene was pretty bad too

In The Blue Max, you can see wires as they slide a model into the ground. But otherwise, an awesome film.

Absolutely the worst, the airplane takeoff/crash scene of an Antonov-124 in Fast and Furious 6. People have calculated that the runway in the movie had to be 28 miles long, not to mention all the ridiculous stunts during that 20 minute crash scene.

OP's clip wins. The others noted look like documentaries by comparison
