Oh Lord, this again. Do a search there is a whole thread on it here somewhere. Personally I wouldn't risk it.

My neighbor flies jets in the Military and loves what he does for a living. His 6 year old son is crazy about airplanes also. Sad story is that they just put his kid on drugs (Ritalin?) because he is always acting up and supposedly uncontrollable. He may have just screwed his son's chances at becoming a fighter pilot (or even a PP) like his old man. What some kids need is a belt to the bottom when they act up and soon they will get the message that bad behavior results in pain. It seems that for many parents these days it's much easier to drug their child into submission than to use age old techniques for bringing a child in line. It's a very sad testament of our times.

A lot of this is driven by teachers. One of my sons had a teacher in 3rd or 4th grade who insisted he was ADHD and needed drugs. She "just knew" because she "had seen it so many times." We took him to a psychologist who did his thing, and eventually concluded that the teacher's classroom was just too chaotic for my son to focus on work.

Lazy teachers push for this because it makes their job easier.

Even professionals (doctors) can fall for the self confirming "I've seen it so many times". If you've misdiagnosed it many times you start to believe you have all this experience in the disorder. Not to pick on doctors either, it's human nature. If I see a shadow in the forest and conclude it's Sasquatch, and see the same shadow a hundred times, I will be declaring the next shadow I see is definitely Sasquatch for certain and I know because I've seen "Sasquatch" hundreds of times over the years. People do this all the time it drives me insane.

Don't inhale, swallow, run it in or otherwise take it into your body.

CBD will test positive on a drug test for marijuana. There is no way to tell that between medicine and illegal drug use. All cannabis product and derivatives are illegal at the federal level.

Yup, I resemble that remark on the occupation side, except I went the other way. My kid is just 5, and I have high regard his future employment, whether he becomes a pilot or not. I've already made enemies with his K teacher over her loose use, almost pre-disposition, of the concept of special education because the kid doesn't have all the boxes checked on some piece of paper, 11 weeks into his entry in a formal school setting. 11 weeks and they want to label him for life. Turns out the boys are getting labeled special cases, and the girls (nominally more sedate and compatible with the sedentary nature of a school day) tend to get pushed to the "gift and talented" moniker, latter which is a laughable metric anyways when we're talking about elementary school academics. Mind you she's not in the liberty to discuss other kids, but we get the feedback from other parents and build the picture she doesn't want to avail us to.

So I'm done with these so-called "experts". America has straight up gone neurotic insane. Follow the money. I'm not letting them mess with my kid's future until he has the opportunity to consent to a single aspect of his life. It's called being a g-damned father.

I can only imagine what would have happened to my dreams had my parents behaved flippantly about letting the system push drug and diagnosis on my person because we all don't behave like automatons in the automaton factory, and I wasn't a rambunctious child anyways mind you. "But yesterday I let it happen because i didn't resemble the remark, tomorrow...." you get the drift.

Not quite true anymore, although the condition treated by the medicine is disqualifying to obtain a pilot certificate.
Epidiolex (cannabidiol) is approved by the FDA, it is not THC but it does come from cannabis.

In addition to this, there is stuff you can buy that claims to be "CBD oil" when it's only hemp oil and contains neither THC nor cannabidiol. This is a highly complex topic both legally and physically in terms of the actual components of the product you're using, so there is no answer for the OP. If the OP has a product claiming to be CBD oil but in reality contains nothing of the sort, there will be no problem using it. But in that case he will be wasting his money and will have been ripped off by a shady supplement seller. But hey, he might get placebo effect! Even then if he reports it to the FAA he will be treated as if it is real and if he doesn't report it but his doctor knows about it, he'll eventually get in trouble as if it were real. If it is actually real CBD oil, it may or may not test positive for THC in a pee test, and he still has the problem of reporting to the FAA how he is treating his chronic pain and indeed as you say, he's still got the underlying condition.
 
Regardless, the FAA position on it is - do not use it in any form.

No, they were just floating that as a ballot initiative. It looks like it's going nowhere.

While the FDA is now approving some non-THC CBD products, that doesn't mean the FAA is going to accept it. There are pages of drugs that are legal otherwise that you can't fly with.
 
komnifornia i heard yesterday is floating that same idea. That’s all we need more legal hallucinogenics for people to screw their life’s up with.
