Monkey to Oshkosh and Beyond!

Quick update. Monkey and I had a blast joyriding around the Grand Canyon area on Monday!!!

Got some GoPro of the flight -

We had to catch a red eye later that night, so, thankfully, we didn't have a lot of time to play in Vegas. I say "thankfully" because there is no way I can keep pace with this monkey!!! He's nuts. I'm guessing it's all the blow, but he zipped through town in record speed burning cash like it was nothing.

We are back home now. I'll be sure to get him to all of the New England states.

Poor New England... :yikes:, Are you sure they ready for him???

My understanding is that all the Ivy Leagues have warning posters up on their campuses now.

Regardless, the monkey has been making himself useful. He shoveled out a path on my back porch for me the other day. So I have no complaints.

That's how he always starts out. Next thing you know all type of unsavory characters are knocking on your door all hours of the day and night... Remember, this monkey has a history...

Yup, probably the only reason he shoveled your sidewalk.

Looked like a nice day for the Grand Canyon run. To bad you didn't have time run the whole length of the park. Glad ya didn't have to pawn the Monkey in Vegas to get a ticket home.

Was beautiful. Flew over the Canyon and circled overhead of the skywalk... found it amusing to look down on people looking down. And the fact that I felt safer up in a little plane than I would have down on a thin glass walkway! Great experience. After the Canyon, flew over to the valley of fire and a couple other places. My favorite flight to-date. Got my high performance aircraft endorsement that day too.

Congratulations on the endorsement. I've driven through the Valley of Fire. I'll bet that would look georgeous from the air after a rain when it was still wet. So what Monkey Shines ya got planned for the Monkeys stay in the Colonies?

 i just realized that I'm in the same state as the monkey.

.... geographically I mean. Not plasticized, melted with my hands above my head.

Just to be clear.

Celine and I are taking the monkey to the aircraft ditching course in CT next week. So, basically, he'll be hanging with two chicks in the water for two days... ;)

@luvflyin - Going to try to get him to at least one airport in each of the New England states. Might also have some plans in the works for him that involve helicopters, police and the national guard. Or is it that the national guard, police and helicopters all have plans for the monkey... hmm, I get it confused.

Hands up to that! Welp, looks like the monkey beat me to that.

Uh oh. Keep him legal. If he gets busted for something and they get his "rap sheet," they'll lock him up and throw away the key and we'll all have to fly up there and bust him out.

Actually my mind went to Eastport, ME. He's on his way from coast to coast, and strikes me as a monkey who wants to go all the way.

All right Cajun!!! Did the ladies at the 99's have to pass a special resolution to let you bring a boy into the meeting? lol. I was scratcin my head over the David Lee Roth thing. My wife brought me up to date on that. She had heard that when he quit rockin and rollin for awhile he became an EMT. Looks like he is part of the team there. Is he a pilot? Next time I hit a club I'm gonna get a shot of Cabo Wabo in honor of all this. Now that the Monkey is ditchin qualified I'm thinkin he is ready for a flight over the big pond after he gets the lower 48 done. There are some folk around here who do ferry flights to europe and I think Hawaii to and points beyond.

Yeah, we were told that he became an EMT for a while. That course was a bit hardcore for an EMT, but I'm guessing he probably took it out of partial curiosity as well. I don't think he is a pilot.

In an effort to straighten him up a bit, I signed the monkey up as a volunteer for a really great aviation-related charity called Above the Clouds. The charity works to bring hope and happiness to kids facing serious adversary, such as homelessness and terminal illnesses.

His first event as a volunteer was yesterday at Logan International (KBOS). JetBlue offered to give the kids a "behind the scenes" tour of their terminal, which included going up in their Operations Tower, touring an Airbus and sitting up in the cockpit, and, over free pizza and drinks in their employee lounge area, hearing from mechanics and pilots who work for JetBlue talk about how they got into the aviation business, what they like about it and career paths for those interested.

Watching the smiles get bigger and more frequent on these kids' faces as the day progressed was pretty amazing. Even The Monkey was moved.

He had to have his own ticket to pass through security. Thankfully he's always in the "pat me down position," so was ahead of the game when he inevitably got flagged...

Really cool day. And really cool of JetBlue to do that for these kids.

OMG!!! Monkey Rehab...:yikes:

I love the gate pass! But I don't think the monkey should ever be allowed around children.

Sounds like it was a great day for the kids.

It was a risky move, but I think it paid off. The Monkey has been being oddly behaved today. Instead of doing his normal three lines this morning, he drank a pot of coffee instead.

Way to go Cajun. You are a true ambassador for aviation.

Thanks. I really enjoy doing these things and being active in the community.

Soooooo......where is the blow and hookers? What have you done with the poor guy? He has to be going into withdrawals without his vice!

Think about it.

A tall, buff guy with long, flowing blonde hair and a Brazilian accent wearing a speedo, hands reeking of massage oil, would be hard enough to explain to the kids, let alone the husband. But a small plastic innocent looking primate figurine? The monkey gets a pass.

We know what's going on.
