quick question, my plane has fine wire 38’s on the bottom and 38E’s on top, I ordered replacement plugs on spruce for the top plugs and ordered the 40e’s it called for on the 0470. Didn’t realize it had 38e’s from its last annual. I didn’t want to mix 40s and 38s so I dropped in tempest 38e’s. Champion didn’t list 38e’s but tempest did.

Not seeing the question...

Yes, it is OK to mix fine/massive plugs, if that is the question.

Fines on bottom, massive on top. No problem. Prolly runs better too.

Champion shows 40e or 38s on the 470 in a 182, wasn’t sure if it would be good to mix the two heat ranges so ordered tempest 38e’s to go with the 38s’s

If you've ever had chrome cylinders, THIS. The fine wire plugs on bottom resist oil fouling better than the massives. This is how I ran the O-235 on my AA1A.

How do you rotate them?

More serious note, Two 4 banger Lycomings I work on have fines on the bottom, massive tops. Probably got 500 hours flying that way between them.
