Michael Jackson, now? Always in threes!

Bad joke removed. He's dead, it would be tasteless for the next week or so.

He is in a comma according to the LA TImes.

Not looking good.

LA Times and NBC both are reporting dead. They are basing their source on something other than TMZ. It is starting to to shape up badly.

I have always thought he was a troubled soul, like so many other celebrities, especially childhood celebrities. Very sad.

AP just reported he is dead.

I can see it now, for the next 3 weeks wall to wall coverage of every aspect of his life, death, funeral, surgeries, records, pets, quirks, what not. I'm sick of it already!

No Kidding. It's a shame that news of Farrah's death will now be pushed back several pages because of it.

It's been a bad month for entertainers though. If I were a celebrity with a heath issue right now, I think I'd be a little more worried this week.

...that guy used to be pretty good when i was a kid, then he kinda went nuts RIP though

Yeah. Here in Chicago, we're mourning John Callaway's passing, too.

And then the snowball picks up speed and the rumors grow and flow....

Google News says Twitter is abuzz with rumors that Harrison Ford and Jeff Goldblum have also passed away today... probably the old "rumor whispered changes the story" effect, propagated by the Internet.

Grim reaper here....

I've been in LA this week.....

There is a certain South Carolina Governor that is thanking his lucky stars tonight!:rofl::rofl:

I've always liked his work though, yeah, he had major problems. My wife and I just watched The Wiz again not too long ago. What a voice.

Me Too, I loved Farrah, but I have little sympathy for Jackson, due to the way he chose to live his life.

5:30pm CDT was when I hit my limit of MJ platitudes of greatness. Sure some of his songs were interesting, sure he was a talented entertainer, OHMYGAWD is the world going nuts for him. Glad I do not turn on TV news very often so I can easily avoid what is likely to be a month of nonsense.

All superstars, all dealt with the intrusion of fame poorly. Is there a way to deal with it well?
Marilyn Monroe
Frank Sinatra
Elvis Presley
The Beatles
Michael Jackson

Let's make a list of superstars who we think have dealt with fame well.

Paul Newman comes to mind.
George Clooney seems to be doing OK.

I'm waiting for someone to update the old song "If there's a rock-n-roll Heaven" and include a Michael Jackson verse. :mad2:

Oh the other side of the coin.......... I have to say though, after sleeping on the news I woke up at 4:00am and the radio was playing the Jackson 5 tunes of the 60's. I really like those tunes! Listening to the music and the news made me sad for the lost. The Jackson 5 smashed though the color barrier for alot of kids my age with music dance, and a wholesomeness you just don't get today. 5 brothers playing, singing, and dancing. I remember them being on the Ed Sullivan Shew! Those were the days.

Back to reality. Sounds like prescription drug abuse and a potential OD did him in. What a waste!

Yeah I don't get it either. He was, to be charitable, passe. I had no idea there was all this pent up Jackson love.

Yep. Tom Hanks is a class act. I think you've answered the question Peggy asked - it IS possible to handle fame well.

Joshua Bell has done such a good job that I don't even know who he is!!!!!!

To add to the list of celebrities who have handled fame well, a few other names leap to mind:

Elle MacPherson
Paulina Porizkova
Kathy Ireland
Eva Herzigova
Cheryl Tiegs

:ihih:

+1

And they actually played and sang! You don't see that today.

It's very sad that he couldn't beat his demons before he passed...

Trapper John

I always thought Bill Watterson handled his fame quite well.
