MIA: POA members

Richard: I still chime in once in awhile. Some of the threads aren't as flying related; so, I'm probably not chit chatting as much, and do have to tend to business sometimes. Also, my nights have gotten pretty booked when I used to have more time.

My Son and I got into BJJ (Brazilian Jui Jitsu) and it's taking more time than I thought it would, but really enjoying the time with him.

Best,

Dave

No?

I just flew down the east coast of Michigan last Sunday. :raspberry:

And the picture is here to prove it :http://www.pilotsofamerica.com/forum/showthread.php?t=43001

I used to live half a block from the east coast of the US in Michigan. The east/west street I lived on (Eleven Mile Rd) dead ended at Lake St. Clair through which runs the US / Canadian border. So the east coast of the US is indeed in Michigan (albeit a small portion of said coast) and Kimberly was neither wrong nor stupid with her remark.

I did not mean to spark a debate! I just thought, hey I am flying to the East to meet all these cool pilots. Didn't really "think" beyond that. Forgot pilots are very particular in the way things are said LOL.

Great to hear.

Don't worry about sparking debates, that's half the fun here (as long as it's civil). Besides, Capt and I were the ones pointing out that there is an east coast in Michigan. And FWIW, most folks born and raised in NYC consider anything beyond New Jersey to be on or near the west coast.

You forgot that there is no nit too small to pick on POA... :wink2:

Actually, this (POA) is by far the most civilized aviation related forum I have seen. Folks get spun up here and there, but one nice thing I have to say about POA is that folks generally keep themselves pretty much in line. You just don't see the heavy handed moderating here that is common on other boards.

OH YEA? NO WAY!

No, kidding. You are right.

And once when I spoke of the mountainous west, I was called out for not being specific enough. After all, to one who resides on the USA eastern shore, I could be talking of the Appalachians. They were quite right.

Our POV, their POV, our definition of a term, their definition of the same term...all needs to be addressed in order to be truly effective in communication.

Do You mean PoA by chance?

Speaking of teeny tiny nits. :)

In your initial sentence, above, you capitalized both the "D" in "do" and the "Y" in "you". Did you mean to do that? Since you picked on the other poster's capital letters versus lowercase letters and everything.....

:rofl::rofl:

To finish picking this nit, protocol would require you to provide a reference (either written or website) that would allow the reader to confirm the proper use of capitalization. We shouldn't have to take your word on this. :D

Your first comma is unnecessary.

There are only 3 dots in an elipsis...

I'm a nit-picker from way back, although I usually just pick 'n grin, a'la Buck Owens and Roy Clark. :D

Ya beat me to it!

(Since I live about a mile from that exact same East Coast... well, about 2.5 miles north of where Lance used to live.)

The Horrors of Posting from an IpAd and trying to edit.

But, with That said, It was Simply A JOKE!!!

For the millionth time!

One: I am not Ed posting as Ed to argue with Ed.

Two: I am not Ron posting as a new member (whoever he is).

Three: I am a REAL PERSON. I could prove this except for the fact that none of you are located close enough to me in California - and I am actually pretty shy anyways so I would probably chicken out and not meet you.

I can attest to the fact that Kim is very real, very woman, and very cool (this is where I sigh heavily because she is also very not available). She is certainly NOT Ed or Ron or whomever else you might imagine her to be.

I know Ed; the photographs make clear, Kim is pretty much the perfect "Non-Ed"!

I was raised in Manhattan. That was the map that we were given for understanding how the country was laid out. Do you mean to tell me that map is incorrect? ;)

Yep, NJ is too big.

Clearly you have never driven through New Jersey. It has a time warp function that makes a second seem like a century, and drains life from you faster than eating Twinkies.

That reminds me I have been meaning to ask if you know Larry Doser? He was a neighbor of mine and he was still living in his parent's home on 11 mile a year ago but I think he recently sold that place. He used to own a Lake Amphibian and kept it at Marine City but he sold that and went into a partnership on a Bonanza a year or so ago. The Bo was at PTK IIRC but may have been moved to Marine City.

Not by name, though I seem to recall someone at 76G who flew an amphib and might have been named Larry. Kudos to him for selling a home in SCS, I hope he something for it that he could live with. I'm trying to sell my parents' house about a mile SW of there right now, and it looks like I'm going to have to practically give it away.

To the contrary, I've had the misfortune of driving through NJ on many occasions and even needing to go *to* NJ.

Has anyone heard from Joe Areeda? He hasn't been on since March.

Yeah, Joe's ok... just taking a break from all forums. He plans to be back eventually. ;-) As he put it, "I figured a little deprivation would make
me want to go back. I'm almost there."

I pity you. Of course, I pity myself also, since I've been in the same situation.

The melons on that map should be more centered on LA, not out near the River.

North to south, yes. Actually, east to west is pretty friggin' bad down in the Pine Barrens now that I think of it. Philly to Cape May/Wildwood/Sea Isle City/Ocean City kinda seems like it takes forever too. Hmm. Yeah, I think you may be right.

If you need to cross Jersey, use 78 or 80 and it won't seem so bad. At least you can do 70 without being pestered by the State Police.

To be fair, I've been to some pretty darn nice spots in New Jersey. The problem is that's just not where I spend most of my time.

My problem is I get to 70, try to pull my wheel back, nothing happens. Go faster, try again, still nothing. And then the State Police pester me, explaining that my Ford Excursion is not a Tri-Motor, despite getting the same fuel consumption.

OMG, funny you should say that. Had dinner at a restaurant in Marina Del Rey last night with some colleagues.

We watched as a woman walked in with, well let's just say "melons" would be understating the facts. Beach balls would be more like it. With a tight, low-cut sweater. Even our waitress made a smart-*** comment about it - seems the entire restaurant staff was talking....
