One report said they were 600' away (sounds plenty but maybe not). And that it was a helicopter (it was an Osprey, no?)

See, you have two counter-rotating sets of blades converging at high thrust/low speed creating a huge combined downdraft......as a flivver operator, when I see one operating, I just.......stand down or go away.

If it weren't for people getting injured, it looks pretty effective at spring cleaning any loose debris laying around the park...and trimming of trees.

Once down, though, I understand they turn the nacelles more toward horizontal again and it blows the "cloud" away in a heartbeat. The cloud can have adverse effects on a deploying troops...so I think they blow it away, then send the men/women with guns out. That's the way I understand it, anyway.
