If you are a user of the Airport Courtesy Cars site, I would like to inform you of a major upgrade and improvement. Effective mid December, A.C.C.'s will be fully web based, and will continue to be a secure site. Many of you over the past couple of years have asked for these improvements, the biggest user request being the site does not work on certain devices. By converting A.C.C's to a web based site, the advantage is clear, the site will now work on any device. Also, there is no possibility of bugs or crashes like an app. The information will be the same.

During this transition period, it is important for you to bookmark the web address on your device so your service remains uninterrupted. For further information, click on the large red banner on the main page of the site, or follow the link directly HERE.

Stopped at KAUO today on my way home (headwinds in cruise, nasty gusting crosswinds on landing). The courtesy car was decent (functional, good AC), and when I brought it back in an hour they asked for $10 facility fee. Had I known that in advance, I wouldn't have put $4 gas in it after driving it for 5 miles . . . .

I added your comment to the site for others. Thanks, Glenn

How much gas would you have put in if you knew about the facility fee?

But apparently $5/mile is a good price? This is in rural Alabama, not NYC. The van has state tags and was paid off long ago (I pay state income tax here, living the next county over; my wife works there, and pays state and local income taxes). Not a Mom and Pop FBO.

They're helping AU raise the money to buy out Malzan's contract. :D

He's still winning . . . . But so was Baby Bowden when tbey ran him off . . .

That's why major colleges pay their coaches a lot, no one knows how long they will last!

Baby Bowden was fooling around with coeds. True too. Not that there's anything wrong with that. :D

And no, colleges wouldn't pay the high salaries if they didn't have to but that's what the market calls for.

Forget it. You're right. All of you are right. What a bunch of bloody thieves those hicks in rural Alabama are. Report them to AOPA. Report them to the FAA. Perhaps the DOJ could go after them for RICO violations. My grandpa didn't go to Europe and fight the Germans only for me to end up having to paying facility fees 70 years later. I thought this was a FREE country? WTF?

I'm outraged. I hope the next person who uses the courtesy car torches it in protest.

FWIW, The IRS thinks it's worth about $.535/mile. Hopefully they're declaring the rest as income.

Way to run to the extreme there.

A $10 fee that wasn't disclosed at the beginning sure sounds like the counter person needed $10. Also, if they're charging $10, then I have to assume that's at least in some way related to the cost of providing a courtesy car.

It's simple... don't charge me for the car, I'll put gas in it. Charge me, and I'll assume you're covering the gas. Both charge me AND expect me to put gas in? lol. Be as outraged as you'd like. Nope.

If they told me in advance that I needed to replace the gas I used, and then pay a modest fee, I wouldn't mind. Especially if the fee was hourly based so I don't feel like I have to run out of the restaurant halfway through the meal to return the car. Or so I could go to a restaurant that is a half hour away. I hate it when they loan me a car but I have to have it back in an hour. What can you do in an hour that doesn't involve fast food?

But as I said, I want to be informed in advance.
