Lynx SE landing

Looks like a great landing .

That ship was at flank speed...I participated in ship operations as an Army Aviator and never remember discussing this type of recovery with a one or two spot Ship. The Lynx performance must be really tight on one engine or it was heavily loaded. Heck of a job by Crew and Ships company.

Nice. I'm guessing they couldn't hover in due to the reduced power of one engine? Looked like the helo and ship were really moving.

Correct. I'm not aware of the SE capabilities of the Lynx but they were in a situation where they couldn't hover on one engine. I've done a bunch of those to runways and it's really a non event. Keep the speed above your min SE speed, which is usually going to be around 20-30 kts, and roll it / run it on. Trying to time that speed to a moving ship I imagine would be difficult. Speed of the ship helped of course but it still takes a good bit of effort on the part of the crew.

I love how he put it right on the spot. No problem, mon!
