I will be picking up my first airplane, a Piper Tomahawk, in superb condition. I have charted a route east from near KOKC, to the Shendandoah valley of VA. I am a fairly low time pilot, and it would be a safety factor to have someone along for some of the legs. the route goes near Fayetteville, then up a bit north toward Kentucky and over toward the Charleston, WV area, then across the hills.

I have not done this before. my plan is to take it real easy, maybe a few hundred miles per day, wait out any doubtful weather. I will have Foreflight iPad. the plane is IFR equipped but not currently certified. just finished annual.

You may reach me through this site. we can go from there. I can pay for a night or two in a hotel if necessary. they will be short days, or perhaps one long, great day of 600 miles if you are a CFI and can give me some instruction along the way I will pay for your time.

and the hamburgers along the way...

Welcome to the forum, you should recieve some interesting replys ,to your post. Good luck.

When is this to happen?

If you find someone based on the OKC end, who pays for the return commercial airline ticket?

And reverse that if your right seater is based somewhere else?

What are the plans if weather grounds you while enroute?

All that aside, do you have a local CFI you like to use? Did you approach him/her with the idea of accompanying you on this adventure?

And RonK, let me refill that half empty glass of yours...

I ask your Instuctor, could be a great way to get your instrument cross country out of the way ?

When I bought my plane, I flew my CFI in to the local square. We then flew it from VA to FL, then I flew to AR. Knocked out all sorts of stuff and in 20 hours, I was very comfortable in the plane. This was over a Sat-Sun. I highly recommend this, my friend.

One way or another, I think you are on the hook for a commercial ticket back unless you hook up with someone running from the law!

When I bought mine, the seller and I flew it from Phoenix to Fort Worth. I put him up at my place for a night and gave him a commercial first class ticket home the next day.

Good use of time and frequent flyer miles.

2 days at 10/day? Man, I start feeling rough around then, even with another pilot and switch hitting legs.

Hello Paul,
I really would have liked to help but a flight of 600 miles unfortunately does not justify a return trip from Europe.
Sorry I couldn't help.

Yeah, it was a long weekend. But I don't think we got over 5k either. It was all down low and really fun flying.

I am a CFI in OKC. I am pretty busy right now but depending on the time frame you're looking at (how soon?) and the exact details I might be able to help you out!

However, useful load is a concern for any long flights in this airplane. I weigh 210 so figure that in.

Don't know if you are interested but Sea Port is hiring Caravan drivers. Comm Inst and 500 hours gets you an interview. They have a hub in Memphis.

Russ has a real job with an OKC based entity that you sorta know really well. Sorta related to products that show up on both plant and silicon based materials. Just make sure to put the cart before the horse named "ographer"
