Let's name the baby

Good thing his parents did not name him Lucas. Had they, whatever electrical item he touched would have quit working within days.
Long ago, in a life far, far away. I used to rebuild and sell Triumph TR4s and TR6s (and one TR250)
Every one had one of two bumper stickers on it when it was done…a few had both:
Lucas, the prince of darkness
and
Englishmen drink warm beer because they have Lucas refrigerators

A lot will depend on the last name.

Had a buddy in college with a name Martin. "Regular" enough until you realized that his actual last name was Lockheed! I admit I was very envious of such a badass name.

My TR250 was named Lucas (by my then girlfriend), because of the AMP gage, which was Lucas, all the rest were Smiths….

Only car I’ve ever owned that never stranded me.

I'd vote for either Roger or Victor. Unless he's going to be in IT, then you have to go with Bobby Tables.

SO many easy aviation ties. Keep it simple and call the kid Al (Mooney), Paul (Poberezny), Amelia, Charles, Lindy, or go REALLY old school with Leo (da Vinci).

If a girl, her first and middle names shall be Christen Eagle, and she will be a gymnast!

But, if you named her Amelia,
would you ever be able to find her at dinner time?

Emma, Katherine, and Marjorie are nice girl names. (Emma Stinson started one of the first flight schools, daughters Katherine [FAI Cert US#4] and Marjorie were instructors, younger brother Eddie started out as the mechanic.)

Dakota or Lance.

Seven is a great name for a boy or a girl.

Popular names suck.
Taking attendance in class:
"Mohammad"
5 students raise hands...
(Yes, I currently work in Dearborn MI)

"Cute" names or "Cute" spelling sucks
Instructor pauses for several seconds to try and guess at how to pronounce some "cute" spelling.
Student is shrinking in his/her seat knowing that he/she will be next and the class will laugh at how the name is mispronounced.

Gender ambiguous names suck.
Used to date a girl named Dale - she complained about getting assigned to the "wrong" gym class and other nonsense.

Calling a child by their middle name sucks.
My wife goes by her middle name - the confusion never ends.
Between her and her four brothers - two go by their middle names and one by a nickname (Butch).

Which brings me to nicknames that are not a contraction of the first name - they suck.
Used to work with a guy that went by Butch (no relation to my brother in law) and every once in a while he would just randomly complain that he had missed his chance to introduce himself as Ralph (his real first name) when he started with the company.

So, something reasonably unique, easy to spell/pronounce.

Aviation related I would suggest Otto (as in Lilienthal). On the fence about Octave (Chanute).
Choice of female names is not as broad given the generally male dominated nature of aviation...

So you're probably against X Æ A-12

For sure I thought the reason was to trick the Russians into thinking you had 6 other kids that they didn't know about. A la Dick Marcinko.

On a serious note, watch the initials. I knew a girl in college named "Sarah Lynn", which would have been fine if her initials weren't SLT. Apparently got picked on more than a little bit over that.

Amelia is a nice name. The daughter of friends of ours named her daughter that.

If we had a boy he‘d have been Steven.

:yeahthat: :yeahthat: :yeahthat: :yeahthat: :yeahthat:

And it seems like very few computer systems accept a first initial + middle name, so it always gets buggered up. My doctors' offices, my pharmacy, my insurance, and my lab all have different variants of my name, trying to work around their %^%&#@ software.

I live at 102 N Maple St. (not really). The First Church of God is at 102 S Maple St.. Every so often I get a misdelivered piece of computer generated bulk mail addressed to "Mr. / Ms. God".
