Hi Guys,

I posted this in the training forum as well, not sure which one to put it!

I'm new to flying in the states. I'm looking for a place that does King Air 200 type ratings for a reasonable price.
Seen a few around $5000, some as high as $13,000 when it is all done in a sim.
Before anyone corrects me with needing a type rating, I do need one for my countries licence :wink2:

Any help would be much appreciated.

Is there even a type rating for the 200? Aren't they 12,500 lbs or less?

My fingers were burning too to make the same comment....luckily I read the whole thing before jumping on it.

You'll probably get more feedback on the beechtalk.com board. Many folks on there that fly King Airs including 200s. I usually go to SIMCOM for my C90. They have several locations. Flight Safety is also well known. A friend just went to Rich Aviation Services here in the Dallas area. They were more affordable.

Best,

Dave

Did you read the OP?

Yep, but missed that...but I suspect you already figured that out.

But if it's not required here, how do you get a rating here that isn't a rating? Wouldn't he need to do that where such a rating exists? :dunno:

Yes, you can get an FAA issued King Air 200 Type Rating on your FAA Certificate. To the OP, are you looking to get a KA200 Type Rating on your US FAA Certificate? Or would you need it issued by some other Authority to go on your non-FAA Pilot License? (Finding someone to do that - here in the USA - might be a bit harder, though not necessarily impossible.)

The US does have a BE200 type rating.

Some military variants are over 12,500 as well as some models sold overseas.

I issued a few of these types to ex-military guys who wanted it on their certificates.

But if the OP is from another country and wants to fly an airplane registered in that country there are going to be additional complications related to that country's regulations of which we have no knowledge. For example, would the OP's country recognize a type rating given by an FAA examiner or designee? It seems that when I go to sim training the foreign students need to have examiners who are approved by their home country or they use examiners from their home country.

A lot of countries will accept a US type rating for validation on their home license, thus why the OP is wanting a type on a US certificate.

I validated my US A320 type on a foreign ATPL.
