Basically a Chinese company purchased a stake in Reddit, another social media site.

Since the purchase, company leadership has slowly been making the site more appealing to corporate investors and sanitizing it.

It’s going the way of numerous other similar sites with not enough capital to pay anybody and no idea how to commercialize and control internet content. Other than ads, that is. The usual ads that don’t promote anything you’re actually interested in.

Better sites than Reddit have died that death. They don’t really die either. They just morph into less and less usefulness.

Cool places on the Net go corporate and become lame. Normal progression.

china doesn’t want a debate, they want to control the conversation via censorship.

Just like tiananmen square, they didn’t send in politicians to debate the governments position with the protestors, they sent in tanks and guns to eliminate the other voice.

Same reason everyone sees the big government stopping for one brave man on most searches
